Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to work closely with business and technical teams to design, develop, and implement enterprise-level applications. The role involves creating design documents, developing SQL-driven prototypes, and transforming approved designs into scalable Java-based applications using JEE technologies.
The developer will participate in an iterative development lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements, enhance usability, and ensure compliance with accessibility and web standards. This position requires strong expertise in backend development, system integration, and modern Java frameworks.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze user requirements.
  • Develop design documents and SQL-driven screen prototypes within rapid turnaround cycles.
  • Present prototypes to end users, gather feedback, and implement necessary changes.
  • Design and develop applications using JBoss JEE, JSF, EJB, Hibernate, and PrimeFaces.
  • Build systems supporting authorization workflows such as application issuance, renewal, and termination.
  • Integrate applications with external systems via web services, Oracle databases, and proxy technologies.
  • Develop module specifications, unit test plans, and system/integration test requirements.
  • Implement applications in an iterative prototype-user evaluation lifecycle.
  • Ensure applications meet accessibility standards (including support for screen readers like JAWS and NVDA).
  • Develop flowcharts, models, and technical documentation.
  • Perform unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Ensure compliance with W3C and organizational standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Java development.
  • Strong expertise in Java (1.6 – 1.8 or higher) and Spring Framework.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSF.
  • Hands-on experience with design patterns and enterprise application architecture.
  • Experience with legacy system migration and modernization.
  • Strong experience in unit, module, and integration testing.
  • Ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
 
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in accessibility development and troubleshooting (W3C standards, ADA compliance).
  • Familiarity with Spring Security / Authentication frameworks.
  • Experience with JBoss application server and enterprise deployments.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture and system design.
  • Prior experience in technical leadership or leading development teams.
  • Exposure to tools supporting accessibility testing (e.g., JAWS, NVDA).
 
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
