Job Title: SQL Server Database Developer

Location: Alpharetta, Georgia (Hybrid)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Developer Lead who can design, develop, optimize, and support enterprise-level database solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server development, strong leadership capabilities, and experience guiding teams in delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems. This role involves working closely with application teams, architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Architect scalable and secure database solutions for enterprise applications.
  • Perform performance tuning and query optimization using indexing strategies, execution plans, and SQL profiling tools.
  • Collaborate closely with application development teams to ensure efficient database integration.
  • Lead data modeling efforts (logical, physical, and conceptual).
  • Oversee ETL processes, data transformations, and integration workflows.
  • Implement best practices in database security, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and high availability.
  • Guide and mentor junior database developers and provide technical leadership for the team.
  • Participate in code reviews, promote coding standards, and ensure database design consistency.
  • Work with business and product teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and health using SQL Server monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Develop automation scripts to streamline deployments and administration tasks.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in SQL Server development (SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, user-defined functions, and indexing.
  • Strong experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO), execution plans, index optimization, and SQL Profiler.
  • Expertise in SSIS for data integration, ETL development, and transformations.
  • Experience with SSRS or Power BI for reporting (optional based on needs).
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and data modeling.
  • Experience with version control tools (Git, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket).
  • Solid knowledge of database administration basics: backups, restores, security, roles, monitoring.
  • Ability to lead a team, provide technical guidance, and review code for quality.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and DevOps concepts.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Google Cloud Platform Cloud SQL).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts, star schemas, and fact/dimension modeling.
  • Knowledge of tooling like Redgate SQL Toolbelt, Liquibase, Flyway, or DBUp.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, CosmosDB) is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Proven experience leading database development teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
