Job Details

Our client, an electric vehicle manufacturer, is actively looking for a Test Engineer to join their team in Irvine, CA! This role is onsite so local candidates are required.

***This is a 6 month contract with the opportunity to extend or convert based on performance and business needs***

This client is seeking a Test Engineer with experience in materials testing to support the evaluation of various material systems for adhesion, density, and other properties. The role involves preparing test specimens, executing standard and custom test methods, analyzing data, collaborating with stakeholders, and documenting results. The ideal candidate has a strong background in materials science, mechanical testing, data analysis, and has communication skills!

What You Will Be Doing
  • Prepare and condition test specimens according to specifications
  • Perform adhesion testing using standard methods (e.g., lap shear, peel, tensile)
  • Operate and maintain testing equipment such as universal testing machines, environmental chambers, and measurement tools
  • Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and repeatability
  • Utilize data analysis tools such as statistics, curve fitting, or other techniques to better understand results
  • Document procedures, observations, and results in detailed technical reports
  • Collaborate with internal engineers to refine test methods and interpret results
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace

Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's in materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, etc.
  • Experience in materials testing, preferably with polymers, coatings, or adhesives
  • Familiarity with adhesion test methods (e.g., ASTM, ISO standards)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and technical report writing
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical testing equipment such as Instron's
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Background in materials science or similar
