Test Engineer II (Onsite; Contract-to-Hire)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Test Engineer II to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of automated End-of-Line (EOL) test systems used in production environments. This role is critical to accelerating the delivery of test equipment that supports manufacturing scale-up efforts across multiple product lines.

As a member of the Electrical Engineering Test team, you will collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Test Engineering teams to develop hardware and software solutions that improve test coverage, automate production testing, and support high-volume manufacturing operations.

This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time conversion based on performance.

Responsibilities

Test Hardware Development
  • Support the definition and development of hardware test requirements.
  • Identify and specify test equipment required to meet product test objectives.
  • Design test interface hardware, including schematics and PCB layouts, using Altium.
  • Develop associated cable assemblies, harnesses, and tester interface solutions.
  • Support component selection, sourcing, and design reviews.

Test Software Development
  • Support test software requirements definition and documentation.
  • Develop automated test applications following established Electrical Engineering test architecture standards.
  • Create software solutions that validate hardware functionality and production acceptance criteria.
  • Implement automated test sequences and reporting capabilities.

System Build & Integration
  • Coordinate with laboratory and engineering teams to procure components and assemble test systems.
  • Verify test system hardware, harnesses, and equipment installations.
  • Integrate hardware and software into fully automated production test solutions.
  • Develop and refine pass/fail criteria through verification testing, multiple-run analysis, and user acceptance testing.

Manufacturing Support
  • Create and maintain test procedures, preventive maintenance documentation, and operator training materials.
  • Support production testing activities as required.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and product issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support customer returns and failure analysis investigations.
  • Resolve production test failures through regression testing and validation of corrective actions.
  • Support new product introductions and manufacturing process optimization.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing and developing automated test systems for electronics or production environments.
  • Knowledge of electronic hardware design, schematic capture, and PCB layout principles.
  • Experience with test automation software development.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with LabVIEW development.
  • Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Familiarity with Capital Harness and Teamcenter.
  • Background in manufacturing test, product validation, or End-of-Line (EOL) testing.
  • Experience developing automated test equipment (ATE) for complex electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of production operations, failure analysis, and quality systems.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or advanced technology products.
