job summary:
A Mac Desktop Support Engineer provides hands-on technical support for macOS devices and end users in an enterprise environment. This role is primarily focused on supporting users day to day, resolving issues quickly and effectively, and ensuring a reliable, secure, and well-performing macOS experience. A smaller portion of the role involves contributing to engineering and improvement work in partnership with a dedicated architecture and engineering team.

responsibilities:
End User Support (Primary Focus - ~75%)
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for macOS users, both remotely and in person.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, OS, and application issues on macOS devices.
- Support user productivity tools, peripherals, printers, displays, docking stations, and collaboration software.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues including Wi Fi, VPN, Bluetooth, DNS, and general network access.
- Perform macOS installs, upgrades, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
- Follow security best practices and assist with enforcing macOS security controls.
- Deliver clear, user friendly communication and guidance to technical and non technical users.
- Partner with Service Desk teams to handle escalations and recurring issues.
Engineering & Continuous Improvement (Secondary Focus - ~25%)
- Contribute to macOS engineering initiatives defined by the central architecture and engineering team.
- Assist with standard builds, tooling improvements, and endpoint management enhancements.
- Use scripting and automation to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
- Help document procedures, troubleshooting steps, and known issues.
- Provide operational feedback to architects and engineers based on real world support experience.
qualifications:
macOS Expertise
- Strong hands on experience supporting macOS in an enterprise environment.
- Deep understanding of macOS configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
- Familiarity with common macOS tools, logs, and diagnostic methods.
Networking Fundamentals
- Working knowledge of enterprise networking concepts relevant to endpoint support.
- Ability to troubleshoot Wi Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, firewall, and proxy-related issues affecting macOS devices.
Scripting & Automation
- Practical experience with scripting tools such as Bash, Python, AppleScript, or Automator.
- Ability to create or modify scripts to assist with installs, configuration, troubleshooting, or reporting.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to support demanding end users.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working closely with Service Desk, Windows, Network, Security, and Engineering teams.
Problem Solving
- Methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving issues using logs, diagnostics, and testing.
- Ability to identify recurring problems and contribute to long term fixes rather than one off solutions.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting Windows endpoints, including SCCM and Intune, is a strong plus.
- Experience in hybrid or mixed OS enterprise environments.
