Summary

Role summary
We are seeking a Telemetry Engineer to stand up and operate the telemetry collection and correlation capability for the Client’s enterprise Wi-Fi environment. You will build the data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting that give operations, engineering, and CX teams a trusted, real-time view of wireless health and user experience. The role also covers ongoing operations and maintenance (OMA) of the telemetry platform, ensuring it stays accurate, available, and continuously improving.

Key responsibilities

Telemetry collection

  • Design and deploy telemetry collection from wireless controllers, access points, cloud management platforms, and supporting services (RADIUS, DHCP, DNS, switching, and WAN)
  • Configure data sources and integrations using APIs, streaming telemetry, SNMP, syslog, NetFlow/IPFIX, and vendor analytics platforms
  • Define data models, naming standards, and retention policies for consistent data across sites and regions
  • Monitor data quality, completeness, and latency, and resolve ingestion gaps or collector failures

Correlation and analytics

  • Correlate wireless telemetry with network, authentication, application, incident, and survey data to give an end-to-end view of user experience
  • Build correlation logic to support faster root cause identification across RF, client, infrastructure, and WAN layers
  • Develop baselines and anomaly detection to flag emerging issues before users are affected
  • Enrich data with site, device, and organizational context (location, building, device type, user group)

Dashboards and reporting

  • Build and maintain operational, engineering, and executive dashboards (e.g., availability, client experience, roaming, capacity, authentication)
  • Produce scheduled service and SLA reports, and ad hoc analysis on request
  • Tailor views by audience, including NOC, regional leads, CX teams, and Client stakeholders
  • Document metric definitions so reporting is consistent and auditable

Health scoring support

  • Define, implement, and refine site and service health scores using agreed metrics and weightings
  • Support threshold tuning and alerting based on health score trends
  • Identify at-risk sites and trends to inform operations, problem management, and optimization priorities
  • Validate scores against real user experience feedback and adjust the model as needed

Operations and maintenance (OMA)

  • Operate and maintain the telemetry platform, including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and backups
  • Manage access control, data security, and compliance requirements for collected data
  • Respond to platform incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs
  • Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and onboarding guides for new sites and data sources
  • Automate onboarding, reporting, and maintenance tasks to reduce manual effort

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in network monitoring, observability, data engineering, or network automation
  • Working knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies (802.11, RF fundamentals) and wireless performance metrics
  • Hands-on experience with telemetry and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Elastic, Prometheus, SolarWinds, or similar)
  • Experience integrating with vendor platforms and APIs (Cisco, Aruba, Juniper Mist, Ruckus, or similar)
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python or similar) and data querying (SQL, SPL, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/DNS, and 802.1X/RADIUS
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • CWNA, CCNA/CCNP, or vendor analytics certifications
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and data pipeline tools
  • Experience building health scoring or service level indicator frameworks
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience with AIOps or machine learning-based anomaly detection

Key performance indicators

  • Telemetry coverage (percentage of sites and devices reporting) and data completeness
  • Platform availability and data latency
  • Dashboard and report accuracy, timeliness, and adoption
  • Health score reliability and correlation with user-reported experience
  • Reduction in manual reporting effort through automation
  • SLA compliance for platform incidents and requests
