Senior Network Engineer – Palo Alto & Network Migration

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with strong expertise in Palo Alto Networks firewalls, network security, and large-scale network migration projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and migrating enterprise network and security infrastructure.

This is a fully onsite position in San Jose, CA, and candidates must be comfortable working onsite throughout the engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure.

• Lead and execute Palo Alto firewall migrations, upgrades, and technology refresh projects.

• Plan and perform migrations from legacy firewalls to Palo Alto Networks platforms.

• Develop detailed migration plans, implementation procedures, rollback plans, and network documentation.

• Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, NAT, VPN, routing, and security profiles.

• Perform network discovery and analyze existing network and firewall configurations prior to migration.

• Troubleshoot complex network connectivity, routing, firewall, and security issues.

• Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate migration activities and minimize service disruption.

• Validate network connectivity and application functionality following migrations.

• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.

• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration documentation, and operational procedures.

• Participate in maintenance windows, cutovers, and post-migration validation.

• Provide technical guidance and support to network and security teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 15+ years of experience in Network Engineering or a related field.

• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

• Proven experience with firewall migration and network migration projects.

• Experience with Palo Alto PAN-OS, Panorama, security policies, NAT, VPN, and routing.

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, and network troubleshooting.

• Experience with enterprise routing and switching technologies.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex network and firewall issues.

• Ability to develop and execute detailed migration and rollback plans.

• Strong documentation and communication skills.

• Experience working in enterprise environments with complex network infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Palo Alto Networks certification such as PCNSA, PCNSE, or PCCET.
• Experience migrating from Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point, Fortinet, or other legacy firewall platforms to Palo Alto.
• Experience with data center networking and security.
• Knowledge of high availability (HA), load balancing, and VPN technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring and automation tools.
• Experience working on large-scale enterprise infrastructure transformation projects.
