Duties

Help

  • Responsibility for transforming initial rough product designs into working documents using computer-aided drafting and design (CAD) tools, including AutoCAD, as well as diagramming tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards
  • Proactively plans for, develops, and assists in the implementation and coordination of network installation, augments, maintenance, and restoration activities
  • Maintains a library of network design documentation and head and design documentation, and provide updates to all engineering and technical staff as requested
  • Conducts technical and physical surveys, to identify and propose complicated and non-standard customer solutions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: experience drafting network architectures with CAD tools, reviewing engineering specifications, or conducting technical surveys to propose and implement non-standard networking solutions.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Additionally, prior to reporting for duty the selectee must be found eligible for a DoD Top Secret security clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) based upon an Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), AND be approved for Presidential Support Duty in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5210.55 (Yankee White - Category II, minimum).

Education

There is no substitution of education for the Qualifying Experience at the GG-12 grade level.

  • Accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 3-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
