Role OverviewThe Engineer I, Process position is responsible for performing the process engineering design functions. These include the design of combustion and steam turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, process control/instrumentation design integration and start-up support. The designs must meet contract and schedule requirements for MPW-A's power projects in the Americas. The position also leads efforts, collaborates with leadership, and provides strategic oversight to ensure efficiencies.

- Prepare heat and material balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), process data sheets, and P&IDs.
- Perform and review hydraulic calculations, heat exchanger thermal calculations, pump sizing, and control valve specification and selection.
- Apply an understanding of process instrumentation and control principles to process engineering design work.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Mitsubishi Power core products and technologies while supporting teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation.
- Adhere to company policies, business practices, and standard operating procedures; report unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts, contribute to departmental and company goals, build a positive team spirit, and communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
- Protect confidential information, maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity, attend or lead meetings during Japanese normal business hours as needed, travel up to 10%, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineeringdiscipline or technical diploma from college or university and 1-2 Years extensive direct experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM.
- Experience managing P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and heat and material balances is beneficial.
- Practical understanding of simple and combined cycle power plant design is beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with Smart Plant P&ID, Aspen HYSYS, and AFT Arrow/Fathom is beneficial.
- Technical knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and P&IDs.
- Strong analytical skills related to engineering problem solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, electronic mail required.
- Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
