Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cerner Scheduling Developer to design, configure, and optimize scheduling workflows within the Oracle Health Millennium platform. This role serves as a senior technical expert responsible for configuring complex scheduling structures that support ambulatory access, provider scheduling, referral coordination, and digital patient access channels.
The ideal candidate combines deep Cerner scheduling build expertise with a strong understanding of healthcare access operations and digital access platforms. This individual will translate operational requirements into scalable system configurations that improve patient access, scheduling accuracy, and provider capacity management across both traditional and digital scheduling channels.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience configuring or supporting scheduling functionality within Oracle Health Millennium
- Demonstrated expertise with Cerner SchAppBook and related scheduling configuration tools
- Experience building and maintaining provider scheduling templates using Cerner SchTemplate
- Experience configuring appointment types and scheduling rules using Cerner SchApptType
- Deep understanding of ambulatory scheduling operations and patient access workflows
- Experience designing scalable scheduling frameworks across multiple specialties or clinical departments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and system design skills
- Ability to translate operational requirements into technical system configurations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting digital scheduling integrations with platforms such as Kyruus
- Experience supporting centralized scheduling operations or enterprise patient access functions
- Experience supporting large health systems or multi-specialty ambulatory networks
- Familiarity with Cerner reporting and analytics tools such as Cerner PowerInsight
- Experience supporting scheduling integration with clinical workflows in Cerner PowerChart

Key Responsibilities
Cerner Scheduling Configuration & Build
- Design and configure scheduling functionality using Cerner SchAppBook, including appointment booking workflows, provider schedules, and scheduling rules.
- Build scheduling templates using Cerner SchTemplate, ensuring appropriate slot structures and availability patterns.
- Configure appointment dictionaries using Cerner SchApptType, including duration, scheduling restrictions, and visit eligibility rules.
- Architect scalable scheduling structures that support multi-specialty ambulatory environments and high-volume patient access operations.
- Configure and optimize:
- Provider schedules and clinic calendars
- Appointment types and visit rules
- Resource and location scheduling structures
- Template governance and schedule release processes
Digital Access & Online Scheduling Integration
- Support integrations between Cerner scheduling and digital access platforms such as Kyruus, ensuring accurate appointment availability and scheduling rules are exposed for online patient scheduling.
- Configure scheduling templates and appointment types to safely enable digital scheduling while maintaining operational and clinical requirements.
- Partner with digital access and patient engagement teams to support provider search, care navigation, and online booking capabilities.
- Troubleshoot scheduling availability discrepancies between Cerner and integrated digital scheduling platforms.
Operational Optimization
- Partner with patient access leadership, ambulatory operations, and clinical stakeholders to improve scheduling efficiency, provider utilization, and patient access to care.
- Translate complex operational scheduling requirements into scalable system design and configuration within the Cerner environment.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex scheduling issues related to template configuration, scheduling rules, and appointment availability.
- Participate in domain updates, system upgrades, and large-scale scheduling optimization initiatives within the Cerner ecosystem.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to analysts and other application team members supporting scheduling workflows.
- Develop and maintain documentation for scheduling configuration standards, template structures, and workflow design.
