What does a great Product Owner do?
As a Product Owner you will be a core part of the Product Management function, working directly with delivery teams and other business units to ensure that business and operational goals are met. You will provide leadership to delivery teams, and other stakeholder groups such as Professional Services, Commercialization, and Operations to deliver innovative cross-vertical solutions to market. You are accountable for ensuring that what is built delivers excellent value to Bank and our customers.

Role Specific Outcomes
Product Ownership (40%)
- A solid understanding of bill pay, account payables, accounts receivables, audit & regulatory compliance, and user experience are critical to success in this role.
- Ensure that the backlog reflects the right balance between building the right thing (features needed by customers or operational internal teams), building it right (quality) and on time (speed to market)
- Ensure features are prepared with necessary acceptance criteria and consider downstream dependencies
- Lead feature read outs and read backs from the delivery team, to ensure a solid understanding of the feature before stories are developed.
- Work collaboratively with other Product Managers and Product Owners
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the product, business and market, in order to help prioritize the enhancements/backlog based on business value and return on investment
- Effectively communicate the business and strategic value of features.
- Prioritize product level decisions on bugs and issues
- Lead release planning, other planning events, prepare the backlog for these events, and update the backlog based on the outcome
- Participate in the sprint review events, accept or reject deliverables and update the backlog based on stakeholder feedback and agreed changes.
- Focus on product level impediments and process changes to enable to faster and higher quality software
- Manage the backlog, capacity and waterline across 4 major releases for 4-6 delivery teams
- Ensure that all aspects of the feature are delivered, including product operations (technical documentation, best practices documentation, knowledgebase articles, turn overs to Professional Services, Customer Care Operations etc)
- Facilitate prioritization between portfolio teams; worl collaboratively, provide recommendations
- Delivery (25%)
- Influence delivery teams to ensure effective on time delivery
- Ensure all the technical and operational requirements to adequately deliver a release are covered in the backlog
- Analyze and predict risks and issues, and ensure that sufficient mitigation is in place to ensure on-time delivery
- Identify and manage cross-team dependencies and upcoming changes that could impact delivery and ensure these are accounted for within the backlog
- Maintaining a common sense and pragmatic focus on delivery in all work done
- Ensure all product operations and handovers are completed
- Decision-making and Problem Solving (15%)
- Make critical prioritization decisions that impact the level and timing of work completion
- Work with others on a day-to-day basis to help make decisions on what is in scope and provide input into functional decisions
- Make data driven decisions on trade-offs between features, quality and dates in order to provide the best solution
- Represent the concerns of the delivery and CPT teams to Product and Technical leadership
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration (20%)
- Build strong relationships with the stakeholders across the business; ensure that you understand their role, the needs of their areas, and their requirements throughout the project
- Ensure Product and technical leadership is aware of key issues, and provide them with the right information and recommendations that lead to extraordinary results
- Actively anticipate new and changing partner needs and raise major concerns to product leadership
- Be the voice of the customer and demonstrate expert knowledge of our customer base and their needs
- Work with Product Managers to ensure the features in a release represent what is needed and that return on investment is in line with their expectations.
- Ability to work directly with customers if required and to be an excellent representative of Bank.
- Collaborate with other Product Owners and Client Communications to ensure accurate communication of all changes.
Basic qualifications for consideration:
- Bachelor s Degree Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement
- Minimum 2 years of Product Owner or similar experience in financial services in a scaled agile environment.
- Experience writing features with clear acceptance criteria
- Experience drafting content for product operations and client communications
- Experience identifying dependencies, and working with cross functional teams to sequence and manage dependencies within one or multiple release cycles
- Experience prioritizing and maintaining a product backlog using enterprise Agile software
- Experience in a client facing role (completing demos, troubleshooting issues etc)
- Project Management experience identifying and managing risks and issues
- Experience successfully collaborating with distributed teams across the US and internationally
Travel required: Up to 25% travel
Preferred qualifications for consideration:
- Product Manager experience in Payments
- Certified Product Owner (CSPO)
- Pragmatic Marketing Certified
- Experience working in a Scaled Agile environment
