Summary

We are seeking a Field Technical Operations Specialist to support in-home camera-based data collection programs through hands-on device management, real-time troubleshooting, and structured technical reporting.

This role works closely with field moderators and engineering teams to ensure reliable device performance, rapid issue resolution, and consistent data quality during live collection sessions.

This is a hands-on field role requiring technical depth and real-time problem-solving, supporting active research environments rather than traditional remote IT or help desk operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in field operations or live data collection environments involving hardware, sensors, cameras, or related devices.
  • Hands-on experience supporting in-home, on-site, or distributed field research programs.
  • Working knowledge of Linux or Unix systems, including terminal usage and log analysis.
  • Basic familiarity with Python, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for cameras, laptops, and field hardware devices.
  • Ability to remain calm and make real-time technical decisions in live environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on technical issue triage and escalation.
  • Familiarity with data quality validation and metadata verification.
  • Experience supporting remote or distributed field teams.
  • Understanding of ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load).
  • Exposure to large-scale data collection or research environments.
