Formulation Food Scientist

Our client, in ice cream foods manufacturing is seeking a Formulation Food Scientistto join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellentworking knowledge in use of ingredients, formulation, process, and product design principles as well as supply chain knowledgewhich will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Formulation Food Scientist

Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ

Contract: 6 - 18 Months (extensions possible)

Pay Range: $35 - $44 hourly

What?s the Job?

\t
• Execute and lead R&D activities to support innovation, renovation, quality improvement, and cost optimization initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and in full within cross-functional teams. \t
• Design and develop food products independently against defined briefs, including prototype creation, scale-up, shelf-life evaluation, and analytical testing. \t
• Own specification and labeling processes within SAP PLM, serving as a subject matter expert for ingredient specifications and driving new material setup. \t
• Provide technical leadership by assessing feasibility of new concepts, troubleshooting formulation challenges, and supporting root cause analysis for product improvements. \t
• Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships while collaborating with R&D, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams, and contributing expert insight to support product strategy and development.

What?s Needed?

\t
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or equivalent degree. \t
• 2-5 years of experience in the food industry, preferably in product development \t
• Ability to independently manage low- to moderate-complexity projects, including planning and executing prototype development across multiple initiatives, with a solid understanding of ingredients, formulation, process, and product design. \t
• Proficient in specification creation, costing, and data analysis, with working knowledge of experimental design, root cause analysis, problem-solving techniques, and Supply Chain principles. \t
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear reports and presentations and effectively convey insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
