Position Overview:
The Network Engineer is accountable for delivering reliable, compliant, and scalable network operations across a global network service ecosystem in a highly regulated, always on environment. Network Operations is a shared services capability within Global Network Services (GNS), providing operational, reliability, and lifecycle services across the enterprise. This role owns operational outcomes across the network service lifecycle, including planning, building, operating, recovering, optimizing, and continuous improvement. The scope includes enterprise connectivity and shared network services across data center, core, campus, branch, and edge environments, including Infoblox DNS, DHCP, NTP, IP Address Management (IPAM), load balancing, firewall, proxy, and related services. The role partners closely with Product Management, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure Engineering, and Service Management to ensure operational and regulatory requirements are embedded from inception and services are operable at scale from day one.
Responsibilities:
- Own operational health, stability, and resilience for assigned network services.
- Perform deep dive troubleshooting and root cause analysis, driving permanent remediation, resilience improvements, and measurable reduction in repeat incidents.
- Execute production change by creating, reviewing, implementing, and validating changes to ensure they are production ready, supportable, and compliant with change management standards.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Service Management to ensure designs are supportable at scale and operational requirements are embedded in delivery plans.
- Provide regular reporting to stakeholders on operational risk, resilience, and service performance throughout the product life cycle.
- Engage third party providers and strategic partners to assure service performance, drive continuous improvement, and support transition and knowledge uplift.
- Support development of operational engineering capability through knowledge sharing, standards adoption, and disciplined reliability practices.
- Work with key stakeholders and project managers to deliver outcomes with speed, accuracy, and operational integrity in support of transformation and business aligned demand.
- Provide flexible coverage on weekends or outside standard business hours as required, across regions.
Qualifications:
- Typically 7 plus years of experience in enterprise network engineering within complex, regulated environments.
- Strong depth in at least one of the following areas:
- Production network operations, including operational reliability, incident management, and production change
- Service fulfillment, including stakeholder partnership and delivery support for transformation demand
- Experience implementing Infoblox DDI solutions, including DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
- Strong understanding of TCP IP, routing, switching, and VLANs.
- Knowledge of DNS and DHCP dependency on network design, including Anycast and Unicast DNS patterns.
- Experience with load balancer or application delivery controller integration for DNS, such as F5.
- Experience with firewall rules, access control lists, and traffic flow design for DDI services.
- Understanding of DNS security concepts, including RPZ and RHZ, sinkholing, and DNS logging.
- Experience integrating with enterprise security tools, including SIEM platforms and firewalls.
- Familiarity with change controls, audit readiness, and regulated environment expectations.
- Hands on experience with network virtualization products.
- Strong stakeholder communication and change coordination, including ability to lead migration activities across multiple teams.
- Expert level troubleshooting using tools such as tcpdump or Wireshark, dig or nslookup, and log analysis.
- Vendor coordination and support case management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two plus years working primarily on Infoblox DDI solutions.
- Infoblox Qualified NIOS DDI Administrator (INA) and or Infoblox Qualified NIOS DDI Expert (INE) certification.
- Reliability engineering and observability experience, including improving monitoring, alert quality, operational KPIs, and proactive issue prevention.
- Hybrid and cloud networking working knowledge, including AWS and Azure connectivity patterns and operational troubleshooting across on premises and cloud.
- Automation and scripting experience using Python and or Ansible to automate operational tasks, validate configurations, reduce toil, and improve reliability at scale.
- Experience working with vendor delivered services under defined operational controls with measurable outcomes.
- Strong incident and problem management execution, including post incident reviews and control implementation to prevent recurrence.
