Job Description 

  • The UX / Product Researcher drives user understanding and informed product decision-making within PMI. This role combines hands-on expertise in user research methodologies with the ability to facilitate product workshops, ensuring that user insights are not just uncovered but actively shape product strategy, roadmaps, and prioritization. You’ll be the person who makes sure the team is building the right things for the right reasons grounded in evidence from real users, not assumptions.

    You’re equally comfortable running a usability test in the morning, analyzing survey data in the afternoon, and facilitating a prioritization workshop with product and engineering stakeholders the next day. You work across the full product lifecycle from early discovery and concept validation through to post-launch evaluation and you bring a continuous discovery mindset that keeps the team connected to user needs as they evolve.

    Responsibilities

    User Research

  • Plan and conduct user research using a range of methods user interviews, usability testing, surveys, contextual inquiry, card sorting, diary studies, and other approaches appropriate to the question at hand
  • Engage in continuous discovery to constantly validate assumptions about user needs and product direction not just at the start of a project, but throughout the product lifecycle
  • Implement iterative testing and feedback loops to refine product solutions in alignment with user expectations
  • Recruit and manage research participants, ensuring diverse and representative samples

 

Nice to Have

Experience with continuous discovery frameworks (such as Teresa Torres’ Opportunity Solution Trees or similar approaches) Experience designing and facilitating cross-functional product workshops (strategy, visioning, discovery, or prioritization) Experience conducting research for AI-powered products or features Background in mixed-methods research designing studies that combine qualitative and quantitative approaches in a single research effort Experience building and scaling research operations templates, repositories, participant panels, research playbooks Familiarity with data analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, or similar) to complement primary research with behavioral data Experience in certification, assessment, education technology, or professional development products

Educational Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Social Sciences, UX Research, or a related field Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field

Requirements

4–7 years of professional experience in UX research, product research, or a similar role combining qualitative and quantitative user research Demonstrated expertise across a variety of user research methodologies you can choose the right method for the question, not just default to the one you’re most comfortable with Strong qualitative skills you can identify patterns and themes across interviews and usability sessions and turn them into clear, defensible insights Good quantitative skills you’re comfortable designing surveys, analyzing response data, and using metrics to complement qualitative findings Experience working directly with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers as part of a product team not just handing off research reports, but being embedded in the decision-making process Strong presentation and communication skills you can tailor how you present findings depending on whether you’re talking to executives, designers, or engineers Familiarity with UX research tools and platforms (usability testing tools, survey platforms, analytics tools, research repositories) , experience using Dovetail and UserTesting will be a bonus. Excellent facilitation skills you can guide diverse groups through ambiguity toward aligned decisions

Tools & Methods

Evaluate and adopt new research tools and methodologies to keep research practices current and effective Support the management of relationships with external vendors, consultants, and research platforms as needed

Workshop Facilitation

Design and facilitate product workshops that support structured decision-making including product strategy, visioning, solution discovery, and prioritization workshops Own the end-to-end workshop lifecycle: scoping, agenda design, facilitation, synthesis, and follow-up action tracking Guide cross-functional groups through ambiguity toward aligned decisions you’re comfortable holding the room when opinions diverge and stakeholders have competing priorities

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Developers to integrate user insights into product development at every stage from concept through launch Present research findings through clear, compelling reports and presentations that are tailored to the audience executives get the strategic implications, designers get the interaction details, engineers get the edge cases Advocate for user-centered design and evidence-based product decisions within the organization be the voice of the user when trade-offs are being made Actively participate in product roadmapping sessions, bringing research insights to influence strategy and prioritization

Analysis & Insight Generation

Analyze data from user research to identify patterns, themes, and actionable insights using both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques Translate research findings into clear recommendations for product, design, and engineering teams not just what users said, but what it means for what we should build Build and maintain research repositories that make findings accessible and reusable across the organization Synthesize findings across multiple studies to identify broader user trends and unmet needs
