Summary

Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Senior Cyber Capability Engineer/Product Lead capable of driving complex cybersecurity product development, guiding engineering teams, and serving as a primary interface with mission stakeholders. This role blends hands-on technical leadership, product ownership, and subject-matter expertise to ensure critical capabilities are delivered efficiently, securely, and aligned with customer objectives.

*This is an onsite position located in Columbia, MD and requires a TS/SCI w/CI Poly*

What You'll Do:
  • Lead product direction as a customer advocate, ensuring technical priorities reflect operational needs and mission outcomes.
  • Shape and maintain the product backlog, create and refine technical stories, and guide teams toward successful Program Increment objectives.
  • Partner closely with customer and stakeholder groups to maintain alignment on evolving mission priorities.
  • Serve as a security product expert with deep knowledge of defensive engineering concepts, telemetry pipelines, and detection logic to support the build-out of realistic test and validation environments.
  • Oversee project execution as the technical lead, uphold engineering quality standards, and support architectural decisions across assigned efforts.
  • Represent the team in technical demonstrations, briefings, and capability showcases when required.
  • Provide mentorship to junior developers in areas such as secure coding, debugging, reverse engineering workflows, and advanced analysis techniques.
  • Ensure quality through structured unit testing, automated validation approaches, and adherence to secure development practices.
  • Collaborate extensively with mission analysts, researchers, and operational teams to assess issues, apply patches, and continuously improve deployed software capabilities.

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or related discipline and 5 years of professional technical experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing technical leadership, guiding teams, or serving in a Technical Lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages: Assembly, C, C#, C++, Java, Python.
  • Hands-on experience with version control platforms (Git, Subversion).
  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and socket-level development.
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and orchestration environments.
  • Practical background with virtualization (ESXi, QEMU/KVM, VirtualBox, Hyper-V) and infrastructure automation frameworks (Vagrant, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with automated testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines, particularly within constrained or secure development environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex architectural and mission concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience designing or delivering training materials that translate highly technical concepts for users across differing skill levels.

What Sets You Apart:
  • Understanding of low-level internals for Windows, Unix, mobile platforms, or network devices.
  • Experience using reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro or Ghidra.
  • Exposure to Atlassian toolsets including Jira, Confluence, and Crucible.
  • Background working in Computer Network Operations environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

Security Clearance: TS/SCI w/CI Poly required

US Salary Range: $155,000 - $205,000
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
