Why This Job

The Chief Engineer serves as Geopier's highest-level and most senior technical advisor and expert, providing expert guidance, proactive mentorship, and strategic insight across all geotechnical engineering activities. The Chief Engineer plays a critical role in shaping the team's engineering approaches by advising and coaching our internal engineering and commercial teams, fostering sound judgement, and supporting the development of high-quality, reliable geotechnical solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Provide Leadership Team level support and mentorship to engineering and technical leaders and resources across the organization
  • Collaborate with Geopier engineering teams to establish, oversee and refine Geopier's engineering strategy, standards, and technical governance
  • Serve as high level technical authority on complex geotechnical designs, methodologies, and construction approaches
  • Collaborate with Geopier engineering teams to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance of engineering practices across all regions and projects
  • Lead technical risk assessment and mitigation for complex or high-profile projects
  • Support innovation, continuous improvement, and advancement of geotechnical systems, tools, and methodologies
  • Support major pursuits, proposals, and key client engagements as a technical leader and advisor
  • Actively represent Geopier with clients, regulatory bodies, and professional organizations as the company's senior engineering representative

What You'll Need
  • 15+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, geotechnical construction, or closely related engineering disciplines
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including management of senior engineers, technical teams, or engineering functions
  • Deep technical expertise in ground improvement, foundation systems, and geotechnical design and construction practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering organizations through growth, complexity, and change
  • Strong judgment in technical decision-making and risk management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to become a trusted business advisor with key decision-makers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop opportunities and specifications for a value-added product and system
  • Proven track record of influencing operations and driving business results in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize, manage a large workload, and effectively manage change in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to blend strong engineering & technical skills with practical business intuition
  • Active in industry associations
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Your Education
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field required. Area of study preference and/or requirements: Advanced Geotechnics Expertise, Geotechnical Expertise, Numerical Modelling Expertise
  • PhD strongly preferred
  • PE (Professional Engineering) License required
