Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – Once a Month)
Job Type: Contract-To-Hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Mainframe Developer) with a strong background in IBM Mainframe technologies to join a growing enterprise team. This role is primarily focused on Mainframe development and modernization, requiring deep expertise in COBOL and the broader Mainframe ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale enterprise applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and support enterprise software applications and enhancements.
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable Mainframe solutions.
Develop, maintain, and optimize COBOL-based applications within IBM Mainframe environments.
Perform unit testing, integration testing, and production support activities.
Troubleshoot complex application and production issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, and development teams on system enhancements and modernization initiatives.
Follow Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices.
Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing activities.
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on IBM Mainframe technologies.
Hands-on experience with COBOL (required).
Strong knowledge of the Mainframe ecosystem, including:

(CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO/ISPF, ChangeMan, Topaz, IBM Mainframe development tools)

Experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
Experience working with AWS Cloud.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with API Management tools.
Knowledge of Git and BitBucket.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
Experience working with enrollment, customer, vendor, or healthcare-related data integrations.
