This role requires strong project governance and hands-on experience delivering PACS and RIS projects in complex healthcare environments. The Project Manager will partner closely with radiologists, imaging center operations, AI, infrastructure, security, and vendors to deliver reliable, compliant solutions with measurable operational outcomes across the clinical imaging applications stack, including PACS, RIS, dictation/reporting, mammography tracking systems, and interface engine integrations (HL7). The Project Manager will also work closely with the AI team to facilitate discovery and evaluation of AI projects, as well as monitoring AI solution performance after implementation is complete.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram / Project Delivery Lead end-to-end delivery of clinical imaging application initiatives (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closeout) with disciplined governance across scope, schedule, budget, RAID, and change control.
Build and manage comprehensive project plans, work breakdown structures, dependency maps, resource plans, and integrated cutover/hypercare plans.
Drive decision closure, issue resolution, and escalations to protect timelines, quality, and operational readiness.
Establish and track project performance metrics (e.g., readiness milestones, adoption, defect trends, stabilization metrics, support volume).
Manage assigned budgets, including forecasting, tracking, and variance management; ensure projects align to funding and delivery constraints.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, including clinical stakeholders (radiologists and imaging center leadership), IT (AI, applications, infrastructure, security, data), operations, and vendors.
Facilitate requirements workshops and working sessions (in-person and virtual); translate clinical workflow needs into actionable technical requirements and deliverables.
Deliver executive-ready communications and presentations to mid-to-senior leadership (status, risks, decisions needed, budget outlook, and milestone confidence).
Bridge differences between parties to drive alignment, compromise, and forward progress.
Vendor Management Manage vendor engagements end-to-end, including SOW development, deliverables tracking, implementation governance, escalation management, and acceptance criteria.
Coordinate vendor technical activities across environments (test/prod), validate release plans, and ensure support coverage during go-live and stabilization.
Ensure vendor solutions align with enterprise standards for availability, performance, security, and supportability.
Compliance, Security, and Risk Ensure projects meet healthcare compliance expectations (HIPAA-aligned controls, PHI handling, auditability) and internal security requirements.
Partner with Infrastructure and Security teams on architecture reviews, access controls, logging/audit trails, segmentation, and vulnerability remediation plans.
Maintain a proactive risk program: identify/track risks and issues, define mitigations, and maintain contingency plans for high-impact milestones.
Typical Project Examples AI aggregator platform integration with RIS and PACS, including multi-site deployment governance, AI algorithm testing, cutover readiness, training, and stabilization/hypercare.
Clinical AI solution integration with RIS, PACS, modalities, Dictation end-to-end interface cutover planning, including HL7 ADT/ORM/ORU validation, downstream system coordination, and go-live support.
Pilot Ai solution expansion including pilot performance evaluation, site readiness and ROI assessment, enterprise rollout sequencing, template governance, and adoption tracking.
AI product lifecycle management sunsetting end-of-life solutions and cutting over to newer generation solutions including monitoring, migration support, change management.
Required Experience & Knowledge (Must Have)Clinical Imaging IT Delivery PACS project delivery experience - implementation, upgrade, migration, or enterprise rollout.
RIS project delivery experience - implementation, upgrade, conversion, interface cutover.
Clinical imaging AI project delivery experience - implementation, pilot, or enterprise rollout
Experience delivering at least one of the following (required):
o Dictation/reporting implementation or conversion (speech recognition, report workflow/distribution, templates)
o Mammography tracking workflows (MQSA-oriented tracking, letters/recalls, operational adoption)
o Interface engine / HL7 integration delivery (ADT, Orders, Results; interface testing and cutover)
PMP Certification RequiredTechnical & Operational Understanding Strong understanding of end-to-end imaging workflows and clinical operations impacts (radiologist + imaging center workflow).
Solid understanding of imaging IT infrastructure fundamentals (connectivity, storage/performance, endpoint/VDI considerations, security constraints).
Strong understanding of clinical imaging AI solutions (fundamentals, workflows, connectivity to IT infrastructure, and impact to radiologists/technologists)
Working knowledge of HL7 and interface-driven workflows; ability to coordinate testing, reconciliation, and go-live readiness.
Familiarity with cloud-based AI solutions and the data flow between end-user and AI model processing
Project Management Discipline Demonstrated strength in project governance: scope control, RAID management, dependency management, change control, and executive reporting.
