The
Director of Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) and Retail Immediate Annuities provides deep actuarial and technical expertise on PRT of Defined Benefit pension plans and annuity products, with extensive experience in valuation and financial modeling. This role is primarily a senior individual contributor, accountable for end?to?end execution of valuation, financial reporting, reinsurance, and governance activities for PRT, while serving as a project leader and cross?functional partner across Finance, Reinsurance, Pricing, Operations, and Risk. The role includes people management responsibility for Retail Immediate Annuities work. Success in this role requires strong ownership mindset, the ability to manage complex timelines and dependencies, and effective communication with senior stakeholders.
This position is available onsite in Downtown Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities - Own and complete the valuation process, from data intake to running of Models and review of final results.
- Responsible for timely and accurate quarterly financial reporting on both GAAP and Statutory bases for Direct and Ceded Business.
- Provide technical expertise for Statutory filings, including preparation and review for General Account and Separate Account PRT business.
- Execute and maintain SOX controls in a consistent, well?documented manner, including responding to internal and external audit inquiries.
- Review, analyze, and clearly explain valuation results, with a strong focus on key drivers of period?over?period changes.
- Act as the project owner for complex actuarial initiatives, coordinating deliverables across multiple teams and ensuring milestones, dependencies, and risks are actively managed.
- Lead and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for model enhancements, assumption updates, and regulatory-driven changes.
- Play an active role in the development, enhancement, and governance of VM?22 valuation models, working closely with cross functional stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation and documentation.
- Prepare insightful earnings analysis, translating complex actuarial results into clear, decision ready messaging for senior Finance leadership
- Share best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of valuation processes, controls, and documentation.
- Mentor actuarial staff, and serve as a role model for technical excellence, collaboration, and professionalism
Required Qualifications: - FSA/ASA and EA with 10+ years of actuarial experience
- Direct and/or indirect leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and support others in a professional setting
- Annuity valuation and modeling experience
- Experience with Moody's Axis, PathWise, or ProVal preferred
- Exposure to reinsurance structures, including UK PRT or Bermuda?based reinsurance arrangements would be plus
