Title: Linux/AIX Administrator with SUSE focus
Location: Houston, TX (Only Locals)
Experience: 12+ Years
System Administration & Operations
• Install, configure, and maintain AIX and Linux (SUSE, RHEL, other distros) servers.
• Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; perform troubleshooting.
Automation & Scripting
• Write and maintain automation scripts using Shell (Bash/ksh), Python, or automation tools like Ansible or Puppet.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) where applicable.
Virtualization & Infrastructure Integration
• Support AIX LPARs and virtualization (e.g., PowerVM, VMware).
• Work with storage, networking, and virtualization teams to optimize performance.
Collaboration & Support
• Collaborate with application, security, and database teams for integrated solutions.
• Maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and runbooks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong hands-on experience in AIX systems administration (LPAR, VIO, HMC).
• Linux experience including SUSE Linux Enterprise, RHEL, or comparable distributions.
• Proficiency with patch management, system monitoring, and OS performance tuning.
• Scripting proficiency (Shell, Python) and automation experience (Ansible/Puppet).
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and security processes.
Experience & Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (often preferred).
• 10+ years of enterprise AIX/Linux system administration experience (depends on seniority level).
• Industry certifications (e.g., RHCSA/RHCE, SUSE, AIX certifications) are a plus.
