Job#: 3028314 Job Description: Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript / Python / AWS)As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in building, scaling, and operating modern digital retail systems. You will work across the full software lifecycle-design, development, deployment, and operations-while maintaining a strong focus on engineering fundamentals, system quality, and long-term scalability.
This role requires engineers who deeply understand what they build, can reason about system behavior, and are passionate about continuously improving technology and outcomes. This is not a role for "just getting the job done"-it is for engineers who take pride in their craft.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend and cloud-native services supporting digital retail platforms
- Build and support services using TypeScript and Python, with a strong emphasis on clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Develop and operate systems on AWS, including hands-on use of AWS Lambda and event-driven architectures
- Design and work with distributed databases and scalable data architectures
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, Product, QE, and UX teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Participate actively in system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making
- Ensure systems meet requirements for performance, scalability, resiliency, and security
- Own services through production, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to raising overall engineering quality and standards
- Reduce technical debt and improve system maintainability over time
- Use AI-assisted tools responsibly while maintaining a clear understanding of how systems and code function
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7-8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including Lambda functions and cloud-native services
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems and databases
- Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and system architecture
- Experience working in Agile engineering teams with CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Exposure to eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify) preferred
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to peers and cross-functional partners
- Demonstrated passion for engineering, learning, and continuous improvement
