Summary

As the 6G Technology Manager, you will work with Product Management, Business Development, and R&D management to be the spearhead for our company's 6G (and beyond) strategy. Your goal is to become the #1 test equipment partner for 6G industry ecosystem leaders (chipset designers, component companies, network operators, infrastructure manufacturers, Tier 1 UE manufacturers). You will bridge the gap between emerging 6G research (AI/ML on RAN, AI/ML for RAN, JCAS/ISAC, PHY updates, FR3, XR/AR, NTN) and market-ready test solutions, identify future technical requirements to ensure our portfolio will enable 6G pioneers to "make ideas real". You will be the face of the company in customer meetings and industry forums, driving technical influence and securing early-stage partnerships. In this role, you will be at the absolute forefront of the 6G revolution, shaping how the industry defines and tests the future of connectivity. You will work with the industry's brightest minds to move 6G from theoretical research to real-world applications by 2030.

Your tasks

  • Ecosystem Leadership & Partnerships (#1 Goal):
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between R&S R&D & the 6G ecosystem leaders (Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Apple, Qualcomm, Mediatek, NVIDIA, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.). This includes roadmap exchanges, technical seminars and technology demonstrations.
  • Assist R&S sales management, business development and product management to establish and maintain a synergetic relationship with the key individuals within the 6G ecosystem. Establish strategic, co-innovation partnerships to not just validate 6G concepts, but also help to make the testing a useful reality in their labs.
  • Act as a key liaison between R&S Product Management & R&S R&D to help steer R&S to focus on use cases that will be the most profitable for Rohde & Schwarz.
  • Drive adoption of our test solutions across the whole value chain from 6G research and prototyping through development and certification into production.
  • Establish strategic, co-innovation partnerships to validate 6G concepts.
  • Network and regularly exchange with relevant individuals in the industry and academia.
  • Strategic Technology Planning:
  • Define and prioritize requirements for 6G test and measurement solutions, spanning physical layer (PHY), MAC, and system-level, including AI/ML integration.
  • Monitor and influence 6G industry alliances (Next G Alliance, AI-RAN Alliance, 6G innovation forum..)
  • Identify key industry pain points in early-phase 6G testing to guide internal R&D roadmap.
  • Market Intelligence & Positioning:
  • Develop comprehensive 6G market knowledge, identifying key players, use cases and technology trends.
  • Develop technical content (whitepapers, webinars, workshops, sales presentations) in collaboration with the team, positioning our company as the market leader in 6G measurement science.
  • Internal Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Product Management, Market Segment and Engineering teams to align test equipment features with customer needs for prototyping and compliance.
  • Train sales and application engineering teams on 6G technologies and competitive advantages.

Your qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Communication Systems, or related field. Individuals with equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in wireless communications (5G NR, 6G research, or related), with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or strategic partnerships role.
  • Deep understanding of 3GPP standards (5G-Advanced, early 6G), RF engineering, and network architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced simulations and test equipment.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applied to radio signal processing.
  • Knowledge of software-defined-radio (SDR).
  • Proven ability to build relationships with technical leaders at Fortune 500 tech companies.
  • Proven ability to skillfully influence internal decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills including experience presenting at conferences and public forums.
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker with high emotional intelligence to navigate complex partnerships.
  • Ability to travel 50%+ including international 3-4 times per year
  • In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and have valid work authorization.

The total compensation for this position is $160K-$250K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
