Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect for an interim engagement supporting a data and technology transformation initiative within a financial services organization.
The Solutions Architect will lead the architecture and technical design for the migration of historical investment data to an outsourced/managed platform, while also establishing a scalable Snowflake data foundation. This role will work closely with existing technology and implementation partners to ensure solutions are well-designed, integrated, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
This is a hands-on architecture role for someone who can operate independently, navigate complex transformation programs, and serve as the primary technical architect and decision-maker across multiple workstreams and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Lead solution architecture for the migration of historical investment data to an outsourced or managed technology platform.
Assess existing data, applications, integrations, and processes and develop target-state architecture.
Design and establish the organization's Snowflake data platform and foundation, including data architecture, data modeling, ingestion, storage, and integration patterns.
Develop scalable solutions that support investment data, reporting, analytics, and downstream consumers.
Partner with existing vendors, implementation partners, and internal technology teams to define and implement technical solutions.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, and operational standards.
Design and support Azure-based cloud architectures.
Work within an established Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD environment, ensuring architecture can be implemented and managed through automated deployment processes.
Evaluate technical options, identify risks and dependencies, and make architecture recommendations.
Translate business and functional requirements into practical technical architectures and implementation plans.
Create architecture documentation, solution designs, integration patterns, data models, and technical standards.
Provide technical leadership throughout implementation, including resolving architectural issues and supporting development and implementation teams.
Serve as the primary architect across the initiative, operating effectively with limited architectural oversight.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Solutions Architect / Enterprise Architect supporting complex data or technology transformation programs.
Demonstrated experience migrating historical investment or financial data to an outsourced, hosted, or managed platform.
Experience designing and implementing Snowflake architectures and data models.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture.
Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to work effectively across internal teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
Strong understanding of data integration, data migration, APIs, ETL/ELT, and enterprise data architecture.
Ability to operate independently and confidently as the primary/only architect supporting a major initiative.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in buy-side investment management, asset management, wealth management, or broader financial services.
Strong understanding of the investment/trade lifecycle, including front-, middle-, and/or back-office processes.
Experience with Charles River.
Experience with Eagle or similar investment data platforms.
Previous experience delivering broader technology or data transformation initiatives where direct investment-data migration experience is not available.
Experience integrating outsourced/managed platforms with enterprise data environments.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, senior Solutions Architect who has successfully led complex data transformations in financial services. They should be comfortable owning architecture from strategy through implementation, working directly with vendors and partners, and making decisions without needing a large architecture organization around them.
The most important differentiator is prior experience moving historical investment data onto an outsourced or managed platform. Candidates without that exact experience may still be considered if they have strong transformation architecture experience, particularly involving Snowflake, Azure, data migration, and complex enterprise integrations.
