The Organization is seeking a skilled Data Architect to support the Application Development and Data Management team in modernizing and managing enterprise data solutions. The team is responsible for building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines, supporting the County’s data warehouse and data lake environments, and enabling secure and efficient data sharing across internal departments and external stakeholders.
This role serves as a critical liaison between technology division and other agency’ departments, ensuring alignment of business needs with technical data solutions, while promoting enterprise-wide data governance, integration, and best practices. The Data Architect will collaborate closely with technical leadership and stakeholders to design scalable data strategies within an AWS cloud-based ecosystem.
Position Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable database solutions to securely store and retrieve County data within AWS-based data warehouse and data lake architectures.
· Modernize legacy ETL processes by rewriting SSIS packages into cloud-native frameworks using tools such as Docker, Node.js, Python, and dbt.
· Analyze existing ETL/SSIS packages and develop a migration roadmap for conversion to modern data engineering standards.
· Perform comprehensive data validation, testing, and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of enterprise datasets.
· Evaluate and implement performance optimization strategies for the Amazon Redshift data warehouse environment.
· Design and enforce data security standards and access controls to ensure compliance and protect sensitive County information.
· Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data architecture solutions.
· Serve as a trusted advisor and technical liaison between DTS and other County departments, ensuring effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
· Promote and implement data management best practices, including governance, metadata standards, and lifecycle management.
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
· Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Data Analyst in enterprise environments.
· Strong understanding of database architecture principles, data modeling, and data lifecycle management.
· Hands-on experience with SQL Server and SSIS in enterprise data integration environments.
· Experience working with AWS cloud services, particularly Amazon Redshift, S3, and related data ecosystem tools.
· Proficiency in Python and Node.js for data processing and pipeline development.
· Experience with dbt (data build tool) for modern data transformation workflows.
· Strong experience gathering and analyzing system and business requirements for data solutions.
· Experience working in cross-functional software development or data engineering teams.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a self-starter mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with data mining, segmentation, and advanced analytics techniques.
· Familiarity with cloud-based data lake architectures and modern ELT patterns.
· Experience in data performance tuning and optimization for large-scale datasets.
· Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all organizational levels.
