Overview

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (GoLang) to architect and build a scalable backend integration service layer for a complex, enterprise-grade platform. This role is highly technical and hands-on, with a strong focus on system design, API development, and integration architecture.

You'll play a key role in shaping backend services, driving architectural decisions, and building high-performance integrations across multiple systems. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in designing clean, scalable systems and enjoys working on complex B2B applications.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Integration Development
  • Design, build, and maintain backend integration services using GoLang
  • Develop scalable integration frameworks including event-driven architecture, caching layers, and observability
  • Define API contracts, data models, and integration patterns (REST, async, pub/sub)

Technical Leadership
  • Partner with engineering leadership to define backend architecture and roadmap
  • Drive decisions around scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and service design
  • Advocate for clean architecture and domain-driven design principles

AI-Assisted Development
  • Utilize AI tools for code generation, testing, and documentation
  • Establish best practices for AI-assisted development workflows
  • Ensure code quality, security, and compliance through proper review processes

Delivery & Operations
  • Build resilient, observable systems with logging, monitoring, and alerting
  • Develop automated testing strategies (unit, integration, contract, performance)
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment, scaling, and performance tuning

Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers on backend best practices and Go development

Qualifications

Required:
  • 5+ years of experience building APIs and complex B2B web applications
  • 3+ years of hands-on GoLang development experience
  • Background in .NET or Java development
  • Strong experience with backend integration and system architecture
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases
  • Experience with ERP systems and business integrations
  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, web services, and integration patterns (webhooks, messaging, event-driven systems)
  • Experience with microservices or modular architectures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a remote environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred:
  • Experience with integration platforms, SDKs, or developer-facing APIs
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
  • Experience with contract testing, API testing, and performance testing tools
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)

Additional Notes

  • Fully remote, with occasional onsite visits as needed
  • Must be located in Denver, CO; Northern Virginia; or Austin, TX
  • U.S. Citizenship required
