Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CMDB & IT Asset Management (ITAM) Analyst with hands-on experience in ServiceNow CMDB, IT Asset Management, Configuration Item (CI) management, asset lifecycle management, and data governance.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of CMDB and asset data, supporting IT asset lifecycle processes, improving data quality, and ensuring compliance with IT governance standards.

The candidate will work closely with infrastructure, procurement, application, service management, and other technical teams to identify and resolve CMDB and asset data issues and continuously improve ITAM processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain ServiceNow CMDB data, including Configuration Items (CIs), relationships, attributes, and ownership information.
  • Perform CI creation, updates, reconciliation, normalization, and retirement activities.
  • Monitor CMDB health, completeness, correctness, compliance, and data quality.
  • Identify and resolve duplicate, stale, incomplete, or inaccurate CI and asset records.
  • Support IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes across the complete asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, transfer, and retirement.
  • Maintain and manage Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) data.
  • Perform regular asset-to-CI reconciliation and investigate data discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, procurement, application, security, and service management teams to resolve asset and CMDB data issues.
  • Support CMDB governance processes, standards, policies, and data quality controls.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards related to CMDB health, asset inventory, compliance, reconciliation, and data quality.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by providing accurate asset and configuration data.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation within CMDB and ITAM operations.
  • Support ServiceNow Discovery activities and validate discovered CIs against existing CMDB records, where applicable.
  • Ensure CMDB and ITAM processes align with ITIL best practices and organizational governance standards.
  • Create and maintain documentation, procedures, data standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Provide regular status updates and communicate data quality issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow IT Asset Management (ITAM).
  • Experience with Configuration Item (CI) management.
  • Experience with Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
  • Experience with Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • Strong understanding of CMDB governance and data quality management.
  • Experience with asset reconciliation and data normalization.
  • Experience managing the IT asset lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Experience with compliance reporting and audit support.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and data validation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE).
  • Experience with CMDB Health dashboards and metrics.
  • Experience with ServiceNow HAM/SAM modules.
  • Experience with data cleansing, normalization, and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow CSDM is a plus.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale CMDB environments.
  • Experience with reporting and dashboard tools.
  • Knowledge of IT governance, risk, and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities - CMDB

  • Maintain accurate and reliable Configuration Item (CI) records.
  • Manage CI relationships and dependencies.
  • Perform periodic CMDB data quality assessments.
  • Monitor CMDB Health and address completeness, correctness, and compliance issues.
  • Support reconciliation between discovery sources, asset repositories, and CMDB.
  • Identify and remediate duplicate and orphaned CIs.
  • Ensure appropriate CI ownership and lifecycle status.
  • Support CMDB governance and data standards.

Key Responsibilities - IT Asset Management

  • Track hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory and ownership information.
  • Reconcile asset records with CMDB and procurement data.
  • Support asset audits and compliance reporting.
  • Identify missing, duplicate, or inaccurate asset records.
  • Support asset retirement and disposal processes.
  • Collaborate with procurement and infrastructure teams to maintain accurate asset records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in ServiceNow CMDB and IT Asset Management.
  • Experience working in enterprise IT environments.
  • ITIL certification is preferred.
  • ServiceNow certifications are a plus.
