Job Duties


  • Prepare metal powder samples for laboratory testing

  • Perform particle size, density, chemical, and physical property testing

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, spectrometers, and sieves

  • Record and analyze test results to ensure quality standards are met

  • Prepare reports and document testing activities accurately

  • Calibrate testing equipment and maintain laboratory records

  • Assist in investigating quality concerns and resolving product issues

  • Follow ASTM, AMS, customer specifications, and safety procedures

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on process improvements


Education Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate's degree (AAS preferred), in Metrology, QA or QC Technology, or other

  • laboratory-focused technical fields


Experience Requirements


  • Experience inspecting manufactured products using established quality standards and specifications.

  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, or inspection documents.

  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring devices.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and document inspection results accurately.

  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Relevant certifications or additional training in laboratory techniques are required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous quality inspection, quality assurance, manufacturing, or production experience is preferred.

  • Technical training in manufacturing, quality assurance, or inspection procedures is beneficial.

  • Experience performing first article, in-process, or final product inspections is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of ISO standards, statistical process control, quality documentation, or corrective action procedures is considered an asset.

  • Individuals who demonstrate accuracy, professionalism, and a commitment to producing high-quality work are well positioned for success as a Laboratory Technician.

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, particularly with metal powders, is a plus.

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing procedures.

  • Must be proficient in using laboratory instruments and software.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 is a plus


Physical Capabilities


  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspection activities throughout the shift.

  • Ability to lift products or materials weighing up to 50 pounds when required.

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment with accuracy.

  • Ability to maintain visual focus and attention to detail while inspecting products in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
