Business Analyst - Residential Mortgage

Job Description Position: Business Analyst Residential Mortgage Experience: 10 12 Years Location: Chicago (Hybrid) Duration: 12 18 Months

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Residential Mortgage domain knowledge and hands-on SQL expertise. The role supports mortgage investment, reporting, and regulatory initiatives and works closely with front office, operations, servicing, and risk teams. Focus is on business and data analysis, not system design.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and document business and data requirements for residential mortgage initiatives.

• Perform SQL-based analysis on large loan-level and mortgage datasets.

• Analyze loan lifecycle data (origination, servicing, prepayment, delinquency, default).

• Support analysis of MBS/RMBS, mortgage cash flows, P&L, exposure, and performance.

• Validate data accuracy, support reporting, and resolve data issues.

• Participate in UAT and business sign-off.

• Collaborate with investment, operations, compliance, and risk stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years as a Business Analyst in Residential Mortgage / Mortgage Capital Markets / Asset Management.

• Strong SQL (joins, subqueries, CTEs, data validation).

• Solid understanding of mortgage products, loan-level data, and mortgage cash flows.

• Experience working with front office and operations teams.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Buy-side or asset management experience.

• Exposure to mortgage risk, performance, or regulatory reporting.

• Advanced Excel; Power BI/Tableau exposure.
