Job Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, supporting, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance quality, safety, productivity, delivery, and cost performance. This position works closely with engineering, production, quality, and other functional teams to identify manufacturing issues, determine root causes, and implement practical solutions.
The role supports continuous improvement across fabrication and assembly operations, with an emphasis on process efficiency, waste reduction, manufacturing capability, and standardized work.
- Provide engineering support for production issues involving equipment, quality, material availability, process performance, and manufacturing interruptions.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and production data to establish and maintain routing information, including operation sequences, setup requirements, and standard production times.
- Support the accuracy and ongoing improvement of ERP, MRP, PLM, and related manufacturing systems.
- Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process standards, and related controlled documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and other continuous improvement techniques.
- Communicate project status, findings, risks, and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to investigate process variation and manufacturing problems using data analysis, structured problem-solving, and statistical techniques.
- Assist production leadership with the development and monitoring of operational metrics and KPIs related to quality, safety, inventory, productivity, and delivery.
- Review quality and manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities and support corrective and preventive action activities.
- Work with engineering, quality, operations, and other technical resources to ensure manufacturing processes satisfy applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Support new product introduction activities, including design reviews, tooling and fixture requirements, production cell planning, process validation, inspection methods, and manufacturing readiness.
- Track assigned project activities and communicate progress, risks, and recommended actions to support successful implementation.
- Provide technical input for equipment and capital improvement decisions, including cost considerations, alternatives, implementation requirements, and expected benefits.
- Assist with installation and implementation of new manufacturing equipment and processes, including safety requirements, operator training, maintenance planning, documentation, and process controls.
- Develop knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, welding, and other specialized production methods.
- Improve manufacturing methods for related part families, including tooling, programming, machine setup, and process standards.
- Use 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software to support tooling and fixture design, manufacturing layouts, engineering reviews, and technical documentation.
- Support the development and implementation of inspection, testing, quality control, and process monitoring methods.

- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Ability to work independently while receiving general direction and technical guidance when needed.
- Ability to evaluate technical problems, develop practical recommendations, and communicate the reasoning behind proposed solutions.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, process controls, and quality management practices.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles preferred.
- Ability to organize and execute engineering projects from planning through implementation.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD systems such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with ERP, MRP, PLM, or other manufacturing information systems.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations, process improvement, production engineering, or a related engineering function preferred.
