Summary

Scope of Position

The Engineer II will perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and other routine work in and around hotel as needed. Cooperate and assist the Engineering management in the achievement of hotel and department goals.

Position Requirements
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in the hotel or directly related industry.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and electrical, required.
  • Knowledge of hotel fire standards and procedures.
  • Able to work independently and exercise judgment to resolve personnel and production issues that arise, with minimal supervision.
  • Perform rigorous tasks including working from ladders, under equipment, and handle awkward materials or apparatus required of tasks assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment - ensuring methods, materials and practices meet company standards, Local and National code.
  • Repair hotel guest rooms as assigned under the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Report broken or misused equipment to Engineering Manager or Director
  • Ensure that safety systems are operable.
  • Follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the departments inventory by reporting needed supplies.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet, product labeling, proper storing, and handling of materials.
  • Record daily tasks, including P.M., for tracking of maintenance tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education
  • High school diploma

OR
  • Experience in a large hotel environment, preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/ machinery.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens (+110 F).
