Summary
Position Title: Industrial Engineer (Time Studies & Manufacturing Optimization)
Location: Onsite Arden, NC (transitioning from Fairview, NC facility)
Duration: 6 9 months (high likelihood of extension based on ongoing workload)
Start Date: ASAP (active interviewing; stakeholder availability limited June 24 July 6) outside of that can interview anytime and start as early as in July
Interview Process:
- Round 1: Microsoft Teams interview (30 45 minutes)
- Round 2: Onsite interview in Arden, NC (2 3 hours with team leads and stakeholders)
Scope / What s Driving the Need:
This opportunity supports a high-growth product line expected to scale 5x over the next 3 8 years. The current environment operates as a prototype/job shop-style lab, with informal processes and inconsistent data across systems.
Key challenges include:
- Inaccurate SAP routings and time standards
- Lack of formalized production processes
- Informal lab protocols and tracking methods
- Limited visibility into true production capabilities
The organization is transitioning operations to a new Arden, NC facility, and this role will be essential in industrializing prototype workflows into structured manufacturing processes.
Duties / Responsibilities / What an Average Day Will Look Like:
- Conduct detailed time studies across manufacturing operations (primarily onsite)
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing process flows to improve efficiency and scalability
- Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operational sequences, and process standards
- Create and update manufacturing routings in SAP, ensuring accuracy of production data
- Develop new process work routers and improve existing ones
- Perform process flow audits to identify inefficiencies and waste reduction opportunities
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement
- Identify appropriate quality inspection points and QIP checkpoints
- Optimize confirmation points in production processes
- Support daily manufacturing operations and troubleshoot process issues
- Lead and analyze process-related issues using data-driven approaches
- Work with automated, semi-automated, and manual assembly processes and equipment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operators, and production teams
- Help transition lab-based prototype work into repeatable, scalable production lines
- Support facility transition to Arden site (process readiness vs. physical move execution)
- Manage assigned projects and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives
- Assist with additional project management and product development activities as needed
Necessary Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial/manufacturing engineering
- Strong expertise in time studies, process optimization, and work measurement
- Hands-on experience with automated and/or manual assembly processes
- Proven experience with SAP (production routings, confirmations, process updates)
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and production drawings
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
- Solid mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once objectives are defined
- Strong communication skills across technical and operational teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

- Must be able to work onsite for the majority of the engagement
Nice To Have:
- Experience in prototype-to-production transitions or job shop environments
- Familiarity with CREO, AutoCAD, or other CAD/design software
- Exposure to facility transitions or manufacturing site ramp-ups
- Background in industrializing early-stage or lab-based production processes
- Project management experience
- Bachelor s degree in engineering (associate degree required)
