Data Center Cable Technician

Location: Omaha, NE
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (50 hours/week)
Work Environment: Data Center (Indoor)

Job Overview

We are seeking Data Center Cable Technicians with at least 1+ year of structured cabling experience to support a large-scale data center project in the Omaha area. This role focuses on installing, dressing, labeling, testing, and terminating copper and fiber cabling, as well as rack and stack and network equipment buildouts.
This is a hands-on, technical role in a fast-paced environment with strong opportunities to expand your data center experience and skill set.

Top Skills Required

  • Rack and stack or server cabinet buildout experience
  • Experience with CAT5, CAT6, and fiber cabling
  • Patching experience (copper and fiber)
  • Testing experience using Fluke testers

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Fiber optic splicing / fusion splicing
  • OSP / ISP cabling experience
  • OTDR testing
  • Low voltage or construction experience
  • Data center experience
  • Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting

Key Responsibilities

  • Install structured cabling systems including:
    • OSP, ISP, rack, stack, patching, fusion splicing, and testing
  • Run, dress, and label CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling
  • Rough-in fiber and complete final dressing and labeling
  • Terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber installations
  • Build out network equipment and perform rack and stack
  • Set up and operate copper and fiber testers (Fluke and fiber testers)
  • Read and interpret floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets
  • Perform system testing and troubleshooting as required
  • Manage materials for cabling installations
  • Maintain job site organization and basic housekeeping
  • Assist in mentoring and developing Installers into Technician-level skill sets
  • Maintain professional appearance and comply with customer security requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ year of cabling experience
  • Experience with terminations, testing, and labeling
  • Ability to excel in technical tasks such as testing and troubleshooting
  • Data center experience is a plus
  • Must not have worked on a META/Facebook site within the last 6 months
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to meet attendance requirements

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Indoor data center environment
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Regular use of hands and tools
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (frequently 25 lbs)
  • Ability to work in tight or confined spaces

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
