Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering with extensive MEP building design experience to lead the electrical engineering discipline. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in commercial, healthcare, education, mixed-use, or other building projects who enjoys mentoring engineers, managing multidisciplinary projects, and ensuring technical excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering design for building projects
Manage and mentor engineers, EITs, and designers
Review, approve, sign, and seal engineering documents
Coordinate electrical engineering with architectural and engineering disciplines
Manage project schedules, staffing, budgets, and technical quality
Meet with clients to develop engineering solutions
Perform electrical calculations and prepare engineering specifications
Support hiring, performance reviews, staff development, and business growth
Maintain engineering standards and quality assurance processes
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
10+ years of MEP electrical engineering experience within the built environment
Leadership experience managing engineering teams
Expert knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), Energy Code, IBC, NFPA72, NFPA101, and NFPA110
Proficiency with Revit MEP, SKM, AGI, ComCheck, Bluebeam, BIM360, and Microsoft Office
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
