Senior Tacton CPQ Consultant – Product Modelling & Administration
12 months
Tory MI | Remote

Position Summary:-
Client is implementing Tacton CPQ to strengthen product configuration, pricing, quoting, approvals, and quote-to-order capabilities for complex configurable products. We are seeking a hands-on specialist to augment business SMEs and work with the implementation partner to build maintainable product models, pricing structures, discount rules, workflows, quote documents, and application configurations.
During implementation, this resource will support design, configuration, testing, deployment, and knowledge transfer. After go-live, the role will support training, onboarding, application administration, production support, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Product Modelling and Commercial Configuration

  • Facilitate sessions with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Pricing, and other SMEs to define product structures, attributes, options, rules, constraints, and expected behaviour.
  • Build, test, and maintain modular Tacton models for complex configure-to-order and engineer-to-order products, including dependencies, compatibility logic, validations, guided selection, and configuration outputs.
  • Configure and maintain base and option pricing, pricing tables, adjustments, discounts, approval thresholds, effective dates, and applicable plant, market, customer, channel, or regional variations.
  • Apply practical naming, documentation, reuse, performance, and maintainability standards; review partner-created models for alignment with approved requirements.

Application Configuration and Integration Support

  • Configure application objects, workflows, roles, permissions, reference data, administrative settings, quote-document templates, and customer-facing content.
  • Configure approval workflows for discounts, pricing exceptions, and special or engineered requests.
  • Collaborate with architects and integration teams on Tacton data requirements, mappings, interface behaviour, error handling, and end-to-end validation across CRM, PLM, ERP, middleware, and order systems.

Testing, Deployment, and Support

  • Develop and execute unit, functional, integration, regression, and release-validation tests using realistic business scenarios.
  • Support UAT, defect triage, root-cause analysis, remediation, retesting, cutover, go-live stabilisation, and production issue resolution.
  • Maintain support procedures, known-error documentation, escalation paths, and operational runbooks.

Training, Knowledge Transfer, and Administration

  • Complete structured knowledge transfer from the implementation partner and document key architecture, configuration, and administrative decisions.
  • Develop and deliver role-based training, train-the-trainer sessions, onboarding, office hours, job aids, configuration examples, and knowledge articles.
  • Enable designated Champion resources to perform defined routine product, pricing, workflow, template, and administrative changes.
  • Provide ongoing application administration, access coordination, enhancement analysis, backlog refinement, release-impact assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of recent, hands-on Tacton product modelling, CPQ application configuration, or administration experience.
  • Experience supporting at least one production Tacton CPQ implementation, rollout, or significant enhancement.
  • Strong experience with complex product models, reusable components, rules, constraints, attributes, dependencies, pricing tables, discounts, commercial rules, or approval logic.
  • Ability to facilitate SME working sessions and translate product and commercial knowledge into precise, testable configuration requirements.
  • Experience with configurable, configure-to-order, or engineer-to-order products; testing, troubleshooting, releases, and production stabilisation.
  • Strong documentation, communication, facilitation, analytical, and knowledge-transfer skills; ability to work independently in an Agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tacton Product Modelling certification or equivalent expertise; Tacton CPQ Application Configuration, Pricing, or Document Generation training.
  • Experience with PLM-driven product structures, Salesforce CRM, PTC Windchill PLM, ERP order processing, middleware integrations, and product-data governance.
  • Experience in complex manufacturing, industrial products, modular construction, or manufactured housing.
  • Experience transitioning a partner-implemented SaaS platform to internal support and developing administrator or end-user training.
