Experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) needed to develop and implement a Microsoft Copilot proof of concept (POC) across a multi-tenant enterprise environment.
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft Copilot Subject Matter Expert to architect, lead, and operationalize a Microsoft Copilot Proof of Concept across a multi-tenant Microsoft 365 estate. The ideal candidate blends M365/Entra and data governance expertise with hands-on Copilot for Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, and Power Platform integration experience. This role will define POC scope, stand up a secure and measurable pilot, drive user adoption with robust guardrails, and produce executive-ready findings and a scale-out roadmap.

You will partner with Security, Compliance, Legal, Data, HR, and Business Units to ensure that outcomes are secure-by-design, measurable, and aligned to business goals.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Governance

·         Define a POC strategy and success criteria aligned to business outcomes (productivity, quality, risk reduction, and measurable ROI).

·         Establish Copilot governance across multi-tenant environments (primary and satellite tenants), including tenant isolation, cross-tenant access, B2B/B2B Direct Connect, and data boundary controls.

·         Lead risk, compliance, and Responsible AI review in partnership with Security/Legal, including privacy, DLP, data residency, retention, and incident response implications.

·         Create/maintain Copilot policy baselines (e.g., Entra Conditional Access, MAM/MAM-WE, MFA, Privileged Access, RBAC, application consent, plugin/add-in controls).

Architecture & Technical Leadership

·         Design and implement the POC technical architecture for Copilot for Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and targeted use cases in SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Teams.

·         Configure Copilot Studio (formerly Power Virtual Agents) for domain copilots and Graph-/data-aware experiences; define connectors, actions, and Grounding (RAG) strategies where applicable.

·         Integrate Graph connectors and Power Platform (Power Automate flows, Power Apps) to enable enterprise data access while respecting Purview sensitivity labels and scopes.

·         Prepare and validate data foundations: information architecture, site/Teams permissions hygiene, sensitivity labels, eDiscovery, and content lifecycle alignment.

·         Implement telemetry & observability for the POC (usage, satisfaction, quality, safety signals) using native M365 reporting, Graph reports, Power BI, and/or custom logs.
Security, Compliance & Data Protection

·         Ensure Microsoft Purview policies (DLP, Information Protection, Insider Risk, Data Lifecycle, eDiscovery/Legal Hold) align with Copilot experiences.

·         Validate labels and policies flow through Copilot outputs; ensure redaction/obfuscation for sensitive content where necessary.

·         Ensure Teams/SharePoint/OneDrive permissions models to minimize oversharing and enforce least privilege.

·         Coordinate cross-tenant synchronization and access reviews to prevent data leakage during the POC.

Adoption, Enablement & Change Management

·         Lead user segmentation & enrollment (personas, early adopters, business champions).

·         Develop prompting playbooks, guardrails, and role-based templates (e.g., PMO, Sales, Support, Finance).

·         Deliver training, office hours, and enablement content; create FAQs and a self-serve help hub.

·         Partner with Corporate Comms and HR on messaging, expectations, and responsible use.
Execution & Delivery

·         Run the POC through phased sprints (Design → Build → Pilot → Evaluate → Scale Recommendation).

·         Produce executive dashboards and C level readouts (impact, risk posture, cost, scalability).

·         Build a scale-out blueprint (landing zone, governance-at-scale, operational ownership, runbooks).

Core Expertise

·         7–10+ years in enterprise Microsoft 365 engineering/architecture with multi-tenant exposure.

·         Hands-on Copilot for Microsoft 365 deployment experience, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange integration and data access governance.

·         Microsoft Purview (DLP, Information Protection, labels/policies, Data Lifecycle, eDiscovery, Compliance Manager) in real-world deployments.

·         Copilot Studio and Power Platform integration (Power Automate, Power Apps) with Graph connectors; pattern design for secure data access and action/plug in models.

·         Strong information architecture for SharePoint/Teams (sites, hubs, permissions, external access, guest governance).

·         Security-by-design mindset with proven experience in least privilege, segmentation, data boundary controls.

·         Telemetry/analytics proficiency: M365 admin reports, Graph reporting APIs, Power BI, KQL/Log Analytics (nice to have).

Delivery & Leadership

·         Proven POC leadership in complex enterprises: scope, backlog, risk/issue management, stakeholder orchestration.

·         Excellent executive communication with crisp readouts, business cases, and policy exceptions/decisions.

·         Strong change management and enablement (training assets, playbooks, adoption tactics).

·         Prompt engineering and evaluation skills; ability to translate business workflows into reusable prompts and templates.
Methodologies & Frameworks

·         ITIL/ITSM alignment (esp. Service Asset & Configuration Management impacts, catalog updates, support runbooks).

·         Familiarity with SDLC/DevOps patterns for policy-as-code, configuration baselines, and CI/CD for Power Platform where applicable.

·         Understanding of Responsible AI principles and compliance implications.
Tools & Platforms (hands-on)

·         Copilot for Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power BI.

·         Defender for Cloud Apps (CASB), MDCA session policies (nice to have).

·         KQL, Log Analytics, Graph API, PowerShell (for automation and reporting).

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience with regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare, public sector).

·         Cross-tenant collaboration architectures and merger/divestiture scenarios.

·         Data classification programs, records management, and content lifecycle at scale.

·         Viva modules (Learning, Topics) and Copilot extensibility patterns.

·         Microsoft Fabric or Synapse exposure for advanced analytics (optional)

Certifications (Preferred)

·         Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC 100) or Information Protection Administrator (SC 400)

·         Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS 102) or Teams Administrator Associate

·         Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL 600) or Copilot Studio/Power Platform certifications

·         ITIL v4 Foundation (higher levels a plus)
