Duration: 12+ months
Location: Cherry Hill, NJ (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Role Overview

This position focuses on helping development teams modernize their enterprise CI/CD ecosystem. The core responsibility is to design, architect, and carry out the transition of existing Jenkins-based pipelines into GitHub Actions. Operating within a large-scale, compliance-driven environment, this engineer will ensure all automation solutions adhere to strict security, governance, and operational standards. The role requires close collaboration with Frontend, Backend, and DevOps teams to build reusable, scalable pipelines that enable faster, more reliable, and highquality software delivery.


Required Technical Expertise
  • Proven experience deploying, supporting, and operating Java and microservices applications within CI/CD workflows and cloud-native environments particularly those built with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Struts.
  • Extensive hands-on background building and maintaining enterpriselevel CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated success migrating legacy Jenkins pipelines to GitHub Actions.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex build and deployment challenges.
  • Experience creating reusable pipeline components pipeline templates, composite actions, and shared workflows.
  • Deep understanding of secure SDLC, Dev Sec Ops practices, and automation that supports regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Practical experience implementing observability tooling using Datadog and Open Telemetry.
  • Expertise with GitHub Actions, GitHub Enterprise, and best practices for GitHub workflows.
  • Strong experience with Jenkins, including pipeline-as-code using Jenkins files and shared libraries.
  • Familiarity integrating pipelines with artifact repositories such as Nexus or JFrog.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • Experience working with cloud platforms AWS strongly preferred and cloudnative CI/CD patterns.
  • Working knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency writing automation and scripting in Bash, Python, or comparable languages.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD security controls: secrets management, code scanning, dependency analysis, and policy enforcement.
  • Solid understanding of Git/GitHub source control concepts, including branching strategies, PR processes, and release workflows.
  • Strong Linux experience, including shell scripting.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation, standards, diagrams, and operational guides.

Required NonTechnical Skills

This role will drive modernization initiatives, support teams during pipeline transformations, and establish enterprise-level automation standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading large-scale efforts to migrate CI/CD workflows from Jenkins to GitHub Actions.
  • Partnering with Frontend, Backend, and DevOps teams to understand application needs and delivery requirements.
  • Supporting Java and microservices teams with CI/CD, deployment workflows, and observability to ensure build reliability, consistent deployments, and production readiness.
  • Designing reusable, standardized CI/CD solutions to be leveraged across multiple teams.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and organizational guidance.
  • Conducting design reviews, pipeline code reviews, and security-related evaluations.
  • Working alongside security, compliance, and platform groups to meet enterprise controls and governance requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance pipeline performance, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Diagnosing and resolving CI/CD issues affecting development or release cycles.
  • Maintaining documentation, architectural standards, and best practices for CI/CD.
  • Effectively communicating timelines, risks, status, and progress to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
  • Balancing modernization initiatives with ongoing support of CI/CD platforms.
  • Participating in on-call or after-hours support for critical production situations as needed.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software/application development.
  • 3 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or CI/CD-focused roles.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD platforms in large enterprises.
  • Proven background leading or executing CI/CD modernization or migration efforts.
  • Experience working within compliance-heavy or regulated enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and provide technical leadership in crossfunctional settings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Dev Sec Ops tools (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience defining CI/CD governance frameworks and platform standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with technical and nontechnical audiences.
