Role: Lead Enterprise Architect

Role Summary:
The Lead Enterprise Architect provides senior‑level leadership to stabilize and mature the Enterprise Architecture function. This role oversees Corporate Products EA, Transportation EA, and Business Architecture teams, establishes governance, aligns EA with modernization and AI‑assisted delivery.
Responsibilities:
EA Leadership and Stabilization
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership for EA teams (Corporate Products, Transportation, Business Architecture).
- Establish operational rhythm: standups, intake triage, prioritization, architecture decision support.
- Mentor architects and elevate architectural thinking across product teams.
EA Governance and Operating Model
- Define and implement lightweight EA governance, standards, and engagement models.
- Establish architecture review processes and decision frameworks.
Modernization and AI Alignment
- Align EA with modernization initiatives.
- Integrate AI‑driven architecture methods into EA workflows.
- Assess EA team capabilities and gaps.
Required Skills and Experience (with Years)
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Enterprise Architecture Leadership – 15+ years. Leading EA teams, defining frameworks, establishing governance, and driving enterprise‑wide architecture programs.
- EA Frameworks (DoDAF, UAF, TOGAF, BEA, ETP) – 10+ years. Applying structured architecture methods in complex environments.
Systems Engineering and Modernization
- Systems Engineering – 15+ years. Designing and modernizing large‑scale systems across multiple domains.
- Cloud Architecture (AWS, Google Cloud) – 7+ years. Leading cloud transitions, modernization, and secure cloud adoption.
- Zero Trust Architecture (NIST ZT) – 5+ years. Implementing cybersecurity mitigation aligned to modern enterprise standards.
- Microservices/SOA Architecture – 10+ years. Designing service‑oriented and microservices‑based systems.
AI‑Driven Architecture
- AI Integration in Architecture Methods – 3+ years. Applying AI to architecture products, modernization workflows, and decision support.
- Federal/State Enterprise Experience (Optional but Valuable)
- Enterprise Architecture Consulting – 10+ years. Providing strategic architecture guidance in high‑stakes federal environments.
- IT Acquisition Reform – 5+ years. Experience with enterprise‑level acquisition and transformation programs.
Leadership and Advisory
- Executive Advisory Experience – 10+ years. Advising CIOs, CTOs, and senior executives on enterprise architecture strategy.
- Team Mentoring and Capability Building – 10+ years. Developing architects, improving maturity, and elevating architectural discipline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 20+ years total experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, or modernization leadership.
- Proven ability to stabilize and mature EA functions in complex organizations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with senior leadership.
