The Role:

The Senior Manager of Systems Engineering leads the Desktop and Workstation Systems Engineering team, guiding the development and delivery of AMD's next-generation CPU and APU system designs. This role is responsible for ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and alignment with organizational objectives across all phases of client project delivery. Leadership in this position drives quality, performance, and continuous improvement, positioning the team for ongoing success in a dynamic industry.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a proven track record in hardware development and systems engineering skilled at building, motivating, and guiding high-performing teams through complex technical challenges. We are looking for an effective communicator who excels at cross-functional collaboration and strategic decision-making and is committed to professional growth, adaptability, and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set strategic directions for pre-silicon and post-silicon activities, focusing on power, performance, and system feature development for CPU/APU products.
  • Oversee the identification, debugging, and resolution of complex system-level issues across diverse test environments and platforms.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with internal partners, including silicon design, architecture, firmware, and software teams, to enable, validate, and debug system features.
  • Champion initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Mentor, develop, and inspire engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Success Measures:
    • Achievement of project delivery milestones and quality targets.
    • Measurable improvements in product reliability and customer satisfaction.
    • Team development, retention, and engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multiple years of leadership experience in hardware design, development, and debug for X86 architecture in the semiconductor industry.
  • Deep expertise in silicon architecture, computer architecture, and power/thermal management.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, PCIe).
  • Proficiency in programming (C, Python, or other scripting languages) and advanced analytical problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing complex projects, and influencing cross-functional outcomes.

Academic Credentials:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
