ROLE OVERVIEW: Technology Resiliency Architect is a senior hands-on architect responsible for embedding resiliency by design across the enterprise technology landscape. The role leads development, governance, and implementation of enterprise resiliency architecture standards across on-premises infrastructure, private cloud, public cloud, and SaaS platforms. Serving as a technical authority in Architecture Review Boards (ARB), this position partners with Business Unit architects and engineering teams to translate enterprise resiliency strategy into practical implementation guidance through Resiliency Implementation Guidelines (RIGs)
.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Hybrid Architecture Expertise - On-Premises: data center resiliency, server/storage redundancy, DB failover, network patterns
- Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform): multi-region, automated failover, cross-region replication
- Private Cloud: VMware virtualization resiliency, storage and compute HA
- SaaS: vendor resiliency assessments, failover capabilities, third-party DR validation
Well-Architected Resiliency Assessments - Lead resiliency reviews identifying architectural weaknesses and risks
- Assess recovery capabilities against defined RTO and RPO targets
- Develop remediation strategies and resiliency uplift roadmaps
Engineering & Automation Alignment - Promote IaC (Terraform, Ansible), DR automation, and recovery orchestration
- Drive configuration/drift management and automated recovery testing
Regulatory & Risk Alignment - Ensure architecture standards support operational resilience requirements
- Provide architectural evidence for audit and regulatory reviews
- Collaborate with governance and risk teams to strengthen resiliency controls
Enterprise Resiliency Architecture - Design resilient architectures across on-prem, private cloud, public cloud, and SaaS
- Develop patterns for high availability, disaster recovery (DR), and data protection
- Identify and eliminate single points of failure in Tier-0 and mission-critical systems
Resiliency Implementation Guidelines (RIGs) - Define technical standards and reusable architecture blueprints covering:
- DR, PiTR, backup/restore, database resiliency, messaging (Kafka, MQ, Solace)
- Hybrid cloud recovery, storage replication, application failover patterns
Architecture Governance & ARB - Core ARB member - review designs for resiliency compliance and risk
- Identify vulnerabilities, recommend remediation, enforce enterprise patterns
- Act as technical gatekeeper for resiliency across all major initiatives
Business Unit Engagement - Provide hands-on architecture support for critical applications and platforms
- Lead architecture design workshops with BU technology teams

KEY COMPETENCIES Deep technical architecture expertise - Translates strategy into actionable design patterns
- Strong hands-on engineering mindset
- Strong collaboration with engineering teams
- Ability to influence across large organizations
- Drives resiliency culture across the enterprise
SUCCESS METRICS & ROLE IMPACT Performance Measured By - Adoption of enterprise Resiliency Implementation Guidelines (RIGs)
- Reduction of architectural single points of failure
- Architecture compliance through ARB governance
- Improved recovery capabilities across critical services
- Successful remediation of resiliency architecture gaps
Role Impact This role plays a critical part in ensuring the enterprise can withstand and rapidly recover from technology disruptions - including cyber incidents, infrastructure failures, and cloud service outages. Through architecture leadership, governance, and engineering partnership, this position establishes a resiliency-first technology culture across the organization.
