Summary

We are seeking a strong Senior Automation Engineer to lead the automation scope within a complex pharmaceutical manufacturing program. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership capability, and hands-on delivery experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the technical automation scope for assigned project areas
  • Represent automation in cross-functional leadership meetings, ensuring alignment across automation, process engineering, MES/digital, and quality
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and leadership regarding automation deliverables, risks, and progress
  • Ensure alignment with program-wide automation standards and architecture
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams across assigned nodes/areas
  • Ensure consistency across:
    • Requirements
    • Functional specifications
    • Control strategies
    • Phases and recipes
  • Participate in P&ID reviews and lead control strategy design
  • Define and oversee software components development/modifications
  • Lead functional requirement reviews and approvals
  • Drive parameter and recipe specification design philosophy
  • Respond to system integrator technical queries
  • Lead and support software testing strategy and validation
  • Identify and manage technical risks and mitigation plans
  • Assess and lead remediation efforts for process control systems
  • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to the Automation Project Manager
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and team members
  • Promote adoption of modern tools, technologies, and automation best practices

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS
  • Strong background in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading automation workstreams or teams
  • Expertise in batch automation, control systems design, and validation
  • Strong understanding of process control and recipe-driven manufacturing
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
