Summary

Description
This client is seeking a Creative Interactive Designer to join our team on a temporary, part-time basis. This candidate will be working ~40 hours a month, so they are open to someone currently working another full-time position looking for supplementary work.
The client has a system that automatically edits images in Photoshop to save time. This system already exists and is used regularly in their creative production work. The person in this role would help keep that automation working properly, fix issues when something breaks, and make small improvements or updates over time
We are looking for help maintaining and extending an existing Photoshop automation workflow used in creative production. This automation is built as a macOS droplet application and combines AppleScript with Photoshop and JavaScript (ExtendScript / Action Manager) to execute repeatable, production scale image processing.
This role sits at the intersection of creative production and automation engineering. It is less about general software development and more about keeping complex, production critical Photoshop automation running smoothly and evolving it thoughtfully over time.
This is an ongoing support and enhancement need, not a one time build.

What the work involves:
Maintain and troubleshoot existing AppleScript based Photoshop automation
Update and refine embedded Photoshop JavaScript (ExtendScript) used for:
o layer selection and alignment
o transforms/distortions
o grouping and save/export actions
o color profile conversion
Support changes driven by:
o Photoshop version updates
o evolving PSD templates and layer structures
o new image or output requirements
Improve script reliability, readability, and maintainability where appropriate
Provide light documentation or knowledge transfer as updates are made

Required skills / experience
AppleScript on macOS (including droplet applications)
Adobe Photoshop scripting, including:
o ExtendScript (JavaScript for Photoshop)
o Action Manager code (ActionDescriptor, executeAction, etc.)
Comfortable debugging production automation and creative workflows
Able to work with existing scripts and incrementally improve them (not rewrite from scratch)
Engagement details
Expected time: Approximately 40 hours per month (ongoing)
Work cadence: Typically, small updates or fixes, about 1x per month, with flexibility as needs arise
Scope: Ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and incremental enhancements rather than large new builds
Skills
AppleScript, JavaScript, Photoshop
Top Skills Details

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Nice to have:
Familiarity with standardized image output for eCommerce or digital publishing
Comfort working at the intersection of creative and technical teams
