Software Engineer (Backend Golang)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer (Backend) - Distributed Systems in Palo Alto, CA. Are you passionate about building highly scalable, reliable systems that power complex business operations? We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join a fast-paced engineering team focused on developing next-generation distributed systems and backend services.

Summary:
In this role, you will work on large-scale applications, microservices, and event-driven architectures that support mission-critical platforms. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, solve challenging technical problems, and help design systems that handle high volumes of data and traffic with performance and reliability in mind.

Duties:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Golang
* Build and enhance distributed systems and microservices
* Develop REST and gRPC APIs that support critical business applications
* Improve system performance, reliability, observability, and scalability
* Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning
* Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term solutions
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong experience developing backend applications with Go (Golang)
* Hands-on experience with distributed systems
* Experience building and supporting microservices architectures
* Strong understanding of REST APIs, messaging systems, and scalable application design
* Experience with Kafka, Redis, MySQL, and MongoDB
* Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building reliable software
* Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with C#, Java, or C++
* Experience with Elasticsearch or ClickHouse
* Familiarity with gRPC and event-driven architectures
* Python development experience
* Experience optimizing high-throughput, large-scale systems

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
