Overview
The Distributed Virtualization team, Distributed Platform program is looking for a Lead Engineer, Systems Platform Engineering, to assist in driving our customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.

Role
In this client-facing position, you will:
Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of our hypervisor solutions (VMWare)
Define requirements for new applications and customization adhering to MasterCard standards, processes and best practices for virtual infrastructure solutions
Develop, customize, and test applications to integrate to MasterCard's specifications
Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical training to junior team members
Perform feasibility studies, cost and time analysis and create detailed estimates for external customers
Assist in managing Mastercard's HCI global fleet efficiently in terms of capacity management and technical refresh
Be part of a team that plans, designs and develops technical virtual infrastructure solutions and alternatives to meet business requirements in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes and best practices and with a high level of innovation, cost effectiveness, high quality and faster time to market

All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should:
Have a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience
Have an expert understanding of HCI Engineering Concepts and Methodologies with specific skillsets in VMWare, Aria ops, VCF and the vRealize suite of products
Must follow IT industry trends in terms of SDDC concepts, VMWare roadmaps and next generation data center technologies
Design and build automation to eliminate manual operational work, including provisioning, configuration, patching, scaling, and recovery across infrastructure and platforms.
Develop and maintain self-healing and resilient systems by automating incident detection, remediation, and recovery using monitoring, alerting, and runbook automation.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and policy-driven automation to ensure consistent, repeatable, and compliant deployment of environments across data centers and cloud platforms.
Integrate automation with CI/CD and DevOps toolchains, enabling safe, reliable releases, automated validation, and operations patching, upgrades, configuration drift remediation.
Measure and improve reliability through SRE principles, defining and automating enforcement of SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to balance platform stability with engineering velocity.
Have a deep understanding and experience in automation techniques or processes, specifically with some of the products used (Jenkins, vRO, PowerCLI, Python, Terraform, GIT, Bitbucket, Artifactory)
Have an expert understanding and knowledge of x86 rack mounted servers and or blade technologies, specifically Cisco UCS and Dell rack-mounted servers, and the troubleshooting and deployment of such infrastructure
Must be high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and able to function under pressure in an independent environment and have the ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities and work as a member of matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team
Be a strong, confident, and exacting writer and speaker, able to communicate your vision and roadmap effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders
Be skilled at explaining and presenting technical problems succinctly and clearly to senior management
Have experience in HCI and data center architectural practices and principles
Have experience in leading small short term focused projects
Have experience in being a technical leader within a diverse team

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. O'Fallon, Missouri: $122,000 - $207,000 USD
