Cisco Network Architect & Implementation Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Cisco Network Architect & Implementation Engineer to design, implement, and support secure, scalable network solutions. This role combines architecture-level design responsibilities with hands-on implementation and troubleshooting across Cisco networking technologies.
This individual will serve as the primary routing and switching authority and catalyst across the organization, leading all route/switch strategy, modernization, optimization, and standardization efforts. The role requires both strategic architectural vision and deep technical execution capability.
Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Design
Design end-to-end Cisco network solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
Serve as the primary lead and catalyst for all routing and switching initiatives, driving architectural standards and best practices.
Develop logical and physical network architectures, diagrams, and design documentation.
Evaluate existing network infrastructure and recommend improvements or modernization strategies.
Establish enterprise-wide routing and switching standards, governance, and lifecycle planning.
Implementation & Engineering
Implement and configure Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
Lead route/switch deployments, refreshes, migrations, and data center upgrades.
Configure and optimize routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP, etc.).
Perform network testing, validation, and performance tuning.
Oversee complex cutovers and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
Operations & Troubleshooting
Act as the senior escalation point for complex routing and switching issues.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for network performance or stability issues.
Support production environments and participate in maintenance windows as required.
Ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, and resilience of network services.
Security & Integration
Implement Cisco security technologies (ASA/Firepower, ISE, VPN, segmentation).
Integrate routing and switching architecture with security frameworks and Zero Trust models.
Design and implement QoS, redundancy, failover, and high-availability solutions.
Collaborate with security, server, cloud, and application teams to ensure seamless integration.
Documentation & Collaboration
Maintain accurate network documentation, standards, and configuration baselines.
Drive route/switch documentation discipline across the organization.
Work closely with internal teams, vendors, and service providers.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to network operations teams.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience designing and implementing Cisco network solutions.
Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco routing, switching, and enterprise networking.
Demonstrated experience leading route/switch architecture and modernization initiatives.
Experience with enterprise LAN, WAN, data center, and wireless architectures.
Proven troubleshooting skills in complex, high-availability environments.
Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent advanced experience).
Experience with Cisco ISE, Firepower, SD-WAN, or DNA Center.
Data center networking experience (NX-OS, ACI).
Cloud networking integration experience (AWS/Azure connectivity).
Experience with network automation or scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
