Tech Lead - Cloud Data Engineering (AWS) - CTH Role

(W2) Contract to Hire - 100% Remote role

Title: Tech Lead Data Engineer (AWS, Python, Terraform, S3) 

• Must want a technical lead role: Comfortable owning technical decisions, guiding implementation, and managing stakeholders. This is not an individual contributor role. 

• Strong hands-on AWS and Python experience: Databricks and dbt are not required.

• Show personal ownership: Give specific examples of architecture decisions, troubleshooting, and improvements they personally drove.

• Communicate clearly: Explain what they did, why they chose that approach, and the outcome. 

The environment is heavily AWS-native and currently leverages Python, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Aurora/Postgres, Terraform, and GitHub Actions. Data arrives primarily through batch/vendor feeds and moves through an ingestion workflow that performs validation and transformation before publishing full and incremental datasets for downstream consumption.

• Cloud Platforms: AWS terraform
• Data Storage: Data lakes, data warehouses, cloud storage service (S3)
• Data Pipelines: Developing and maintaining data pipelines for ETL processes leveraging GitHub Actions for promotions of code assets.
• Programming Languages: Python, Java, Scala  
• Data Management Systems: SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Postgress
• Data Security and Governance: Understanding of data security best practices and compliance regulations.
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues and analyze data to identify patterns and trends.
