Summary

HGA is seeking a Leak Detection Engineer to support a client with operations in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for performing hydraulic analysis, real-time transient modeling, analyzing alarms, and supporting controller training related to liquid pipeline operations. The position will be part of a highly skilled engineering team focused on enhanced leak detection and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
Execute implementation of Enhanced Leak Detection System (ELDS) models and other leak detection program (LDP) initiatives.
Perform hydraulic and transient analysis for pipeline systems to ensure integrity and performance.
Monitor and analyze alarm rates in ELDS applications, investigating false alarms and "bad actors."
Conduct CPM (Computational Pipeline Monitoring) performance evaluations and recommend improvements.
Collaborate with control room staff and engineering peers to optimize leak detection accuracy and reliability.
Develop and deliver technical training for control room operators on leak detection principles and alarm management.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the energy industry working with pipeline simulation and modeling.
Strong working knowledge of fluid properties, hydraulic theory, and transient pipeline behavior.
Proficiency with at least one real-time transient simulation software (e.g., DNV Synergi SPS, AVEVA LMS, Atmos Pipe, or Atmos Rupture) required.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in midstream oil and gas operations.
Familiarity with Python, VBA, SQL, and NIST Refrprop.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Google Earth.
Exposure to SharePoint, Access, or other relational database tools.
