About the Role
Our client, a global leader in water, hygiene, infection prevention, and industrial technology solutions, is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to support the development of innovative connected products and IoT-enabled systems. This role will focus on embedded firmware development for intelligent devices used in commercial and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded systems, C/C++ development, and IoT technologies, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to deployment.

This is an individual contributor role that offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that help improve operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer outcomes.


Job Description
As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing embedded software solutions for connected devices and IoT applications. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, subject matter experts, and external partners to design, develop, test, and support firmware platforms and products.

Responsibilities
  • Gather and document system requirements for embedded systems, IoT applications, and backend-connected components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development initiatives.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT edge devices and gateways.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of embedded software solutions.
  • Support integration efforts between firmware, hardware, and cloud-connected systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve firmware-related issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Agile development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities and project deliverables.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor''s degree with 5+ years of experience developing embedded firmware using C or C++.
  • Experience with embedded RTOS, bare-metal development, or Linux-based embedded environments.
  • Experience with serial communication protocols, including:
    • UART
    • SPI
    • I2C
  • Experience working with ARM-based microcontrollers, including platforms such as:
    • Microchip
    • NXP
    • Silicon Labs
    • STMicroelectronics
  • Experience developing and testing IoT edge devices, gateways, or connected systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting embedded firmware platforms and Board Support Package (BSP) development.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Bootloaders
    • Embedded file systems
    • System controls
    • Linux development
    • CAN Bus development
    • Modbus RTU
    • Modbus TCP
    • Board bring-up activities
  • Experience with Bluetooth development.
