As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role

As a member of the EMI team, responsible for development of test procedures and associated documentation, and for execution of EMI testing in-house and at external test labs. Act as a technical resource for other departments, providing understanding of test requirements and impacts of testing. Work with the team to ensure equipment calibrations are managed, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage assigned projects, generate timely and quality outputs, and work with associated parties to meet delivery schedule.
  • Conduct EMI testing at internal test facilities
  • Work with outside test facilities to complete L3Harris Wescam EMI testing
  • Generate formal qualification test reports for internal and external testing
  • Generate EMI-centered test plans and procedures
  • Develop EMI control plans as part of the new product development process (as required)
  • Assist design engineers in evaluating EMI/EMC performance of new designs
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external customers on systems requirements for all aspects of EMI testing including direct and indirect lightning, ESD, HIRF and HEMP requirements
  • Support Bids and Proposals work with estimates and gap analysis
  • Support Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Off-site travel is required

Required Capabilities

  • Solid understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-704 and RTCA DO-160 standards
  • Working knowledge of TILE integrated test environment software, able to define and debug test sequences
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or database management is desirable
  • Familiarity with electro-optical imaging equipment
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical motion control systems
  • Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Proficient at test documentation
  • Ability to deal directly with internal and external customers
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system
  • Familiarity with MBSE modelling an asset

Desired Education and Experiences

  • Bachelor?s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
