They are implementing Solar Winds as their observability platform to monitor/maintain endpoints/derms/NMS. they don't have anything set up, starting it from scratch. need a test analyst that understands alerting to help manage and tweak it doing it across test, QA and production environments. That's the project at a high level.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Test Analyst to support testing, validation, and ongoing refinement of monitoring and observability capabilities within a complex utility environment. This role will focus on validating that monitoring systems such as SolarWinds function correctly across multiple environments, especially during high availability scenarios, failover events, and performance testing cycles. This individual will play a key role in bridging the build phase into sustainment through comprehensive testing support and ongoing system validation.
Responsibilities:
- Execute and support system integration testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing cycles
- Validate monitoring functionality during failover, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance testing activities
- Verify monitoring coverage across QA, Production, and disaster recovery environments
- Confirm alerts trigger appropriately and metrics and telemetry are captured accurately
- Ensure dashboards reflect actual system behavior and performance
- Maintain monitoring visibility during system transitions and failure scenarios
- Identify gaps in monitoring data collection, alerting logic, and overall system visibility
- Support troubleshooting efforts in partnership with engineering and monitoring teams
- Collaborate with Monitoring Architects, Observability Analysts, and infrastructure and application teams
- Provide feedback on monitoring effectiveness and recommend improvements during testing cycles
Qualifications:
- Experience with system integration testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing
- Familiarity with validating systems in high availability and disaster recovery environments
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to identify inconsistencies in system behavior and correlate monitoring outputs with real system performance
Tools and Technologies:
- Experience working with monitoring or observability tools with preference for SolarWinds
- Understanding of alerts, metrics, logs, and system behavior validation
- Ability to validate monitoring performance under real world system conditions
- Exposure to utility, energy, SCADA, DERMS, or network management systems is preferred
- Experience supporting real time or operational technology environments is a plus
- Experience working across multi environment architectures including QA, Production, and disaster recovery
